Conversion error: Illegal multibyte sequence
Hello list, I've noticed this problem for a few years now, I think. I see it popped out now and then in discussions. But they always end before a solution is given. So let's try one more time :-) I have plenty of UTF-8 named files and directories. It's UTF-8 all round, I don't use anything else, so I have no doubt the byte sequences are correct in the filesystem (I happen to

Internal error: Signal 11
Hi, I have a problem with Samba from last week. Our SMB server( Debian Linux 2.2.12, samba 2.0.5a) was working very well since october 99. We didn't do any changes with our SMB server sw or hw configuration. There is my problem: content of samba log file: [2000/01/25 05:52:52, 1] smbd/service.c:make_connection(521) PC1 (10.0.0.42) connect to service database$ as user USER1

Problem with strptime
Hello, I have a column with dates in the form %Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S; I want to substract the line i+1 to the line i and get a numeric result (in seconds for instance). This is what I did (I take the data from a database): res<- dbSendQuery (con, "SELECT Date_Heure FROM data.meteo ")Time<-fetch(res, n=-1)TimeDifferencetime<-as.numeric(diff(strptime(Time, format='%Y-%m-%d

applying a set of rules to each row
All, I would like to apply a set of rules to each row of the sample data set below. The rule sets are the guidelines for determining an individual's date for retirement eligibility. The rules are found in this document, http://www.opm.gov/feddata/RetirementPaperFinal_v4.pdf. I am only interested in the top two categories for retirement eligibility, the CSRS and FERS plans. The data set has

Errors Using rmdir
Setup is as follows Server: Solaris 2.6 Samba 2.2.1a Client: Windows NT 4.0 SP6 A user is having trouble using the rmdir command to delete a large directory structure. This has apparently been a problem with the Samba server for several years, but I was only recently told about it since I upgraded to the new release of Samba. This directory is used in the build process of our Java software, and
