Oplock question
Hi! Been having the same problem with oplocks for a while and have been trying to figure out what's going wrong. The FAQ says that we may have a networking (hardware?) problem, but according to the Linux box's ifconfig results, we have had no errors and no dropped packets on the internal network. I am able to reproduce the error pretty much at will on our network, and it is not isolated

oplcok_break more information (PR#12734)
Hi! After more work on the oplock_break problem, I've found the following in my tcpdump-smb logging. It seems that when ost5 (pid=26339 in the logs that follow) requests access to the oplocked file comm.inf from ost6 (pid=5872) the oplock_break failes (this is NOT isolated to any one or two systems on our network, just using these two as an example, and the server reports no dropped packets

Samba causing problems with NT tools
Samba is causing a couple huge problems for the NT admins here since we switched a bunch of machines to security=server and started running nmbd. We're running Samba 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 on a mix of Solaris, HP-UX, and OSF1 machines. One, selecting a Samba server in Server Manager, then selecting Computer/ Services causes Server Manager to crash ("An application error has occurred, blah blah,

Visualage Gen seems to need extended attrib of a file
We can't run VisualAge Generator (2.X) retriving files from the samba server (AIX). (we receive smberror: ErrDos 282 ) It seems to require to read the extended attrib to find out the version of the file (and until now I can't realize what else). Is there any workaround or patch to get rid of it? Can Samba works fine with this kind of application? Thanks in advance, Andrea Capanema

R-1.8.0 + IBM VisualAge/C for AIX compiler
A while ago I compiled R 1.7.0 for AIX (with the above compiler - I'll call it xlc) and I was surprised that it went quite smoothly. Unfortunately with R 1.8.0 it's not as easy, but I succeeded at least partially. Static R works fine (after some tweaking), but --enable-R-shlib fails resp. produces a buggy R. Following are the problems I encountered (in a warning-to-fatal-error

Samba quota 'feature' fix?
Hey Guys and Gals, I'm wondering if the quotas.c file is supposed to fix the problem where a Linux x86 system running with the quota software causes corrupt files to be written by Windows clients. I compiled it in and it didn't seem to make a difference for the following problem. In other words, if I enable quotas on my RH6.2 / 2.2.16-22 kernel box and then write a file via Samba/Windows

R 1.5.1 on AIX 5.1
I'm trying to get R running on AIX 5.1 with the native AIX compilers, VisualAge C++ 5.0.2.0 and XL Fortran Compiler 7.1.0.0. R compiled fine, but in running the test cases, the base-Ex.R tests fail in the Choleski decomposition with the following: > x <- matrix(c(1:5, (1:5)^2), 5, 2) > m <- crossprod(x) > Q <- chol(m) Error in chol(m) : NA/NaN/Inf in foreign function call

AIX patch for openssh-3.7.1p2
There are a couple of bugs in the openssh-3.7.1p2. The aix_setauthdb function does not work with other types of authentication such as AFS/DFS. The loginfailed test in configure is not correct. Also, AIX can use the wtmp logging which I added in configure. Attached is the patch. Thanks, Matt Richards -------------- next part -------------- *** openssh-3.7.1p2/openbsd-compat/port-aix.c Mon Jul 14

No subject
For many moons, now, my Samba-on-Linux server (presently Samba 2.0.6) has displayed some mildly annoying behavior (at least I think it is the Samba server...it might be the NT workstation), to wit, whenever I login on a Windows 95 workstation and browse over to the Samba server, it authenticates me transparently, whereas when I login on a Window NT box and browse over to the Samba server, I am

Windows server not responding to Samba requests
This is a strange problem and it is almost certainly a consequence of faulty Windows server configuration but as it is not under my jurisdiction I need a firm starting point before asking the Windows admin to start digging for the problem. The situation is, as far as I know, this: Win2003 AD with a backup domain controller, and a Win2008 R2 file server. There are a large number of users with

Problem joining Netapp server to samba domain
hello I would like to join a Netapp fileserver to a Samba domain that uses an external Openldap server for authentication. Here's what I do and where it goes wrong (I've hidden the real ip addresses). I've also created a machine account for the Netapp server on the PDC.: What is the name of the Windows NT 4 domain? Nested ANOVA with a random nested factor (how to use the lme function?)
Hi, I am having trouble using the lme function to perform a nested ANOVA with a random nested factor. My design is as follows: Location (n=6) (Random) Site nested within each Location (n=12) (2 Sites nested within each Location) (Random) Dependent variable: sp (species abundance) By using the aov function I can generate a nested ANOVA, however this assumes that my nested
