Samba 2.2.5 - RECYCLE BIN (VFS) problem
Hello Folks, can somebody give me detailed instructions for compiling the VFS-recycle bin-extension for samba 2.2.5? I tried it, already RTFM, but it didn't work. I don't know in which path I have to put the files from the /example directory to compile it correctly (newbie prob?!). Are there any further ./configure options I have to use? I'm running FreeBSD 4.5. You could even send me

Samba 3.0 VFS recycle
I'm trying to set up the recycler module in 3.0.7, but no matter what I do Samba seems to ignore it, even though testparm shows no errors. It's VERY difficult to tell from the HOWTO what exactly you're supposed to put in smb.conf, so I'm making stabs in the dark. I'm frustrated too, so sorry if some of this comes out wrong. I've tried tacking these on to a test share

audit and recycle VFS modules
I have activated the audit.so module and it logs information about file access but not in the format I want: it doesn't log the user name and host name who performed each action on a file or directory. How can I set the format of this log? About the recycle.so module, it works but not always. Some "Permission denied" lines appear in the logs regarding a file move towards .recycle.

Anyone here running a mixed network with windows and/or linux and Mac OSX (10.5) machines and also using the VFS Recycle Bin module in their smb.conf? Running Debian 5 with all latest updates on a Intel based server. I've got a network with all the oses above and the recycle bin works fine for the windows and linux clients, however anything deleted by the mac clients doesn't end up in

exclude_dir option for VFS recycle module
Hello all, I am testing the VFS recycle module, and have a question. The module is working the way I hoped with the exception of the exclude_dir option. I have an entry like: exclude_dir = dir1 -- files I place in dir1 are not sent to the recycle location. However, if I have a folder beneath dir1 like dir1/dir2, files in dir2 get sent to the recycle location. I've tried using wildcards in

AD Member Server and 'vfs objects recycle' permission problems
Hi, on our samba 4 domain member server we use the vfs objects module 'recycle'. Unfortunately we ran into a strange permission problem with deleted folders. The newly created folders in the recycle folder have the wrong permission. The deleted file(s) itself has the correct group (rw) permissions. The shares correct permissions: getfacl Papierkorb/ # file: Papierkorb/ # owner: root #

When files are deleted, the time/date is not touched to the current time/date, making it hard to write scripts that empty the trash based on deletion date..... Strangely enough, the time/date of deleted folders is touched Anyone having the same problem ? -ipguy

VFS crossrename + recycle modules support?
Dear all, Following [1] from a year ago, I'd like to know what is the state of the crossrename VFS module, and whether it's expected to be supported at least together with the recycle module? To be honest I'm quite sympathetic with the reasoning in [1] and I don't see a general use of crossrename. However, it remains relevant in the context of recycle, and currently I
