Loooooong logon-times using samba 3.5.6 and Windows 7
Dear samba-users We are experiencing some rather long logon times using SAMBA 3.5.6 on Debian Squeeze + Windows 7 and while trying to find out why we raised the loglevel to 5 resulting in a rather large logfile. But this did give us a hint as to why we experience so long logon times. It seems that samba is going through the whole user-database with all usernames and machine-accounts. Eventually

isolinux from floppy
Hi, Is it possible to somehow mix syslinux and isolinux so that I boot from a floppy disk and then load the kernel+initrd from a CD? Reading the docs it seems to me that syslinux and isolinux are quite independent tools, they work differently, the installation method is different etc... so I'm afraid I'll get a negative answer... but I hope I won't :-) Thx, Egmont

File Modify/Delete Problems with Samba 3.0.14a and Windows XP
Hi, I recently upgraded from Samba 3.0.7 to Samba 3.0.14a. This is a Debian Woody box using the packages by Sino[1], running Linux kernel 2.6.11.8 and the XFS filesystem with ACL support disabled. [1] http://us3.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/Debian/samba3/ Suddenly I am having problems with Windows XP workstations. Users can create files and folders, but cannot modify or remove files,

Rsync Auto Resume
I am trying to copy a 5GB file over the internet with two Win2003 servers. The internet on ServerA occasionally drops the connection and rsync terminates with error "connection reset by peer". Is there a way to keep alive, extend timeout or auto resume transfer? I tried using the --partial but it just starts over with another partial. I tried using the --timeout=1000 but still

Can the rsync password be automated?
Is there a way to automate the rsync password or maybe disable? I am currently running rsync from a Windows command prompt and would like to run it from a .bat file. I have read through the config man pages but not sure if my ssh_config file is even being used. I tried passwordauthentication = no but it still asked for password. I have seen a option for --password-file= but I believe this does not

Setting 'Character set' doesn't work
Hi, I'm using samba on a sparc solaris 8 machine with the config file included below. Both 2.0.7 and 2.2.0 seem to have the following bug: When I comment out the 'character set' and 'client code page' options, everything's okay. However, if I set those to any values (I'd like to use iso8859-2 - 852 mapping) then samba becomes unable to authenticate the users against

compare-dest when DEST contains path component
Hi, I just noticed that the value of the '--compare-dest' argument is simply prepended to the DEST argument, even if that has path compnents. For example with this command: rsync -a --compare-dest=$comparedest \ remote::something/1/ \ /local/path/to/1/ if the remote 'something' module has a file called '1/2/3/4/file' (which is going to be mirrored to
