ADS and samba domain member: ads_connect: Cannot resolve network address for KDC in requested realm
Hello,
I am having a problem getting my server to join our realm as a domain
member server. I have read through google, yahoo, and this list, but I
cannot find the answer yet.
When I run: net join ads -Uadministrator and try to login it gives the
following error:
kerberos_kinit_password Administrator@MYREALM.COM failed: Cannot
resolve network address for KDC in requested realm

Thanks,
Unfortunately, I still got the same error. I may be wrong, but it is
like it does the automatic lookup process of kdc instead of using the
krb5.conf file. However, as per my note below, if I do add bad config
info to the krb5.conf, it does complain.

Re: Samba PDC and Kerberos(MIT or SEAM in Uinx, without microsoft ADS)
Hi, Andrew,
Thank you very much for your answer.
Now our case is as below:
1, our client machine is the windows 2000
2, We want our Kerberos run in the Unix box.
3, We also want the samba as PDC for all windows user and machine.
4, We want integrate the Kerberos Authentication with samba authentication.
So in this situation, can we get the kerberos login from the windows

So still looking at this.
So this is the state currently: kerberos setup (krb5.conf and
keytab) is working in the server, I can do kinit properly. But

Hi,
After I have updated my SAMBA AD environment from version 4.9.18 to

Samba 3 and non-AD KDC
Hi,
We've been testing Samba 3 for some time now, and we had absolutely no
problems connecting it to Windows 2000 KDC, etc...
Now, we're trying to push it further and have it authenticate against a
non-windows KDC, and I have to admit that I am nowhere near to it. I've
seen a few discussions in this list regarding exactly this issue, but I
still don't get it ;-))
I have my

AD Domain member not authenticating
I had samba working, then I tried (unsuccessfully) to setup ssh pam auth.
Now users are prompted for a password when accessing shares, but no password
works. I am using Redhat AS 3, samba-3.0.9-1, and krb5-1.3.
I forgot to backup pam file system-auth before modifying things, so I'm not sure if that is the problem.

These commands succeed:

Samba + Kerberos - ADS: possible?
Hi, All!!
I have a Windows XP client configured to use Kerberos authentication (with
a MIT KDC). I configured it with ksetup.exe from Windows 2000 and it
works well.
Question is: can I use the kerberos tickets I got at logon time to access
the shares from our samba server, without configuring a entire AD struct
and soon?
Actually, I can access the shares, but only if my kerberos password and

Samba as a PDC with LDAP and Kerberos
I've been searching and researching this and I can't seem to find the
answers I'm looking for. I'd like to setup a Samba PDC that Windows
clients will join. The PDC will use an LDAP backend to get authorization
information (username, home directory, etc). The authentication portion
is handled by an MIT Kerberos KDC. I think I'm real close to having it
all together but I'm

Joining Samba4 to Win 2008 AD domain breaks other kerberos functions
I have a Windows 2008 domain (one Win 2008 DC, one Win 2012 R2 DC.)
I am trying to join a Solaris 11 machine to the domain for both Samba
and other services. For "unix" logins and ssh, Solaris 11 is configured
to use LDAP for user and group lookup and kerberos for authentication.
The "kclient -T ms_ad" command joins the Solaris machine to the AD
domain. It even

Authentication problems with win2k3 domain controller
Hi
I'm having problems with samba-3.0.21b and Windows Server 2003 domain
controllers.
When I try to access the samba server from a client (\\sambasrv) I
only get a login prompt, no username/password combination works.
Accessing the samba server through its IP-number instead of
using the netbios name works.
This together with the log message "Failed to verify incoming ticket!"

OpenSSH/Heimdal/MIT KDC problem/question
Hi,
I'm running OpenSSH 3.8 & 3.9, compiled against Heimdal 0.6.3 for it's
GSSAPI & AFS integration.
A couple weeks ago, we upgraded our MIT KDC from (ugh) Kerberos 5 1.0.6
to the lastest and greatest 1.3.5. However, it seems that as part of
the upgrade, our GSSAPI credentials passing in OpenSSH stopped working.
Actually, didn't completely stop... You can still do a

Bit SGID on directories
Hello,
I have a samba server v4.6.5, it’s a member of a Windows 2003 domain.
I setup a share, in this share I want to set sgid bit on directories.
I created a directory with SGID bit on the top of the share, but when I create inside new directories didn’t have SGID bits.
Here is my smb.conf :

gpfs:getrealfilename = no

MIT KDC for Samba authentication?
Hi Samba Users,
I have Samba providing shares to several XP clients. The clients
currently authenticate using private/smbpasswd. I do not have an Active
Directory server nor any Windows servers.
I also have an MIT KDC. Various services have been Kerberised including
SSH (proper GSSAPI negotiation) and Apache (Basic auth). This is all
functioning correctly. The Apache login and SSH logins from

Samba as a PDC with LDAP and Kerberos
I'm a little confused on one section here... Where are your passwords being
stored? kerberos? If so, how does samba look there? What is the
significance of the {SASL}USER at REALM in LDAP? Is there another password
store that you are syncing with krb?
Sorry for my ignorance here but after hours and hours of trying different
things, I'm unable to use my kerberos backend with samba.

Configure Samba 3 to auth off a MIT KDC.
I have a Samba 3 server running as my domain controller and want to
configure it to authenticate user passwords off a MIT KDC server that
is already up and running. I have the KDC client software installed on
the Samba box and it will authenticate users using it's tools.
I have been looking for some sort of a how-to but I have not found

System load problem with samba 4.4.2 caused by many ntlm auth client requests
Hello,
since a while I experience a strange problem with my samba 4.4.2 running
on a SLES12SP2 system. The server does what it is supposed to do, so
users can work without any problems and access their files via smb but
since some weeks the server shows a strange and unusual very high
system load.
The samba server is not the domaincrontroller (which is a windows
machine) but member of the
