XP Pro And Samba
I have a win98 peer to peer network using a Samba server for file sharing. There 6 Machines on the net. I'm adding a XP Pro and cannot see the neighborhood network. I can get out to the Internet. I've made sure the workgroup name is correct and the XP is not set as DHCP. Our router is the DHCP. Is there something different about setting up the user for the XP Pro? I'm creating

Print driver download, Win2K client, Samba 2.2.3a
Greetings. I'm new to the list, so before I ask a question which might be long and already have been answered, let me ask two short ones: 1) Is there an FAQ for this list? What is the URL? 2) Is there a concise and clear set of instructions for getting Samba 2.2.3a to automatically download drivers to a Windows 2000 Professional client? I'm running Samba on Red Hat 7.3. I have found

Server Question
Hi, I'm new to this list. So far I have a working Icecast server accepting a Shout playlist, and a PPP connection with my isp. I have my servername set to my own IP address. It says in the Icecast documentation that all I need to run an Icecast server (besides the software) is a "box". My question is, is there something innately server-ish which needs to be setup on my machine?

user names containing @
Hi, we are running Samba 2.2.2 on Solaris8; one client (MS 2000) is not able to map a drive: The tcpdump shows the correct user name <user>@<dom>. smbd -d 3 shows <user>_<dom> and thus the authentication on the PDC fails. Does anybody know why Samba translates the @ into an _? Thanks a lot, Roman __________________________________________________________________ The NEW

Public Server?
Hmmm.. perhaps: 1. My inquiries aren't making it to the list. 2. I've stumped the judges. 3. My question is perceived as ridiculous and undeserving of an answer. I quote from the Icecast online FAQ: "What do I need to setup and run an icecast server? First of all you need a box to run the server. Download and compile icecast on this box, and start it up (the default config

File permission problems
Hi knowledgeable samba users, I had to upgrade from samba 2.2.0 on a suse linux server (7.2). Server died after two 2+ years of loyal services - otherwise I would not have changed... Now I have a samba 3.0.9-2.6 on suse 9.1. I can access the files only r-x, i.e. all files appear as read only. Trying to trouble shoot I have: - chmod-ed all the files of all the shares to 777 - in swat put the

Deny access of a defined account logging in from special machines
Hallo list, I want to migrate from an old NT-domain to samba (version 3). In the NT-domain it was possible to prohibit that a special user could log in from every host of the domain. You could specify from which computers this account was able to authenticate against the domain controller. Example: account rainer computer A, B, C, D Login of rainer from A to the PDC: allowed Login of rainer from B

Newbie setup question (Voicepulse, FWD & IAXTEL)
Okay, I can receive calls through Voicepulse fine. All the various attempts (too many to list) to create a workable configuration to Dial to Voicepulse has failed, from 403s to "No authority found" to nothing. The Voicepulse folks told me that the open access was SIP and I shouldn't have a reference in the iax.conf file, but then said that they were refering my question to the
