any WINEDLLPATH caveats I should know about?
Hi,
I am attempting to run the libiconv test-suite using wine and one of
the problems I am having is that the executables are not able to find
the DLL, even when setting WINEDLLPATH, as in:
WINEDLLPATH=../lib/.libs wine .libs/table-to
Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you,

i can't print directly to my samba printer server...
Hi there Brian! I've seen your email on one of the samba mailing list. This
has been my problem for a long time. I just want to share this problem
directly to you and i hope you can lend me your help.
I'm trying to setup windows printer sharing using SAMBA installed on my
Linux box (Redhat 7.3 as printer server) and windows 2000 pro as my client.
My win2k clients are connected to a

Problem printing from NT to printer attached to LInux box
I installed Samba 2.2.2 on my Linux box. The smb.conf file is as shown
below. The permission on /var/spool/lpd/lp is set to 755; ie, it is
writable only by the owner, which is lp. With the setup as is, when I
try to print from the NT machine, the smb log on the Linux box
indicates the following error: " print_job_start: insufficient
permissions to open spool file /var/spool/lpd/lp".

Printing from Linux to an NT printer
Hello, Samba team! I am very new to Linux and Samba, so probably my problem is that I need to study more Linux basic concepts, but in the meanwhile, I need to get this working:
I have to print from a Linux Suse 7.2 box, where I have installed Samba, to a printer connected to an NT box. I have found things written for printing the other way around, but not too much this way. I defined a printer

Setting up a cups printer
I'm trying to set up a cups printer but I don't know much about printing in
linux and am a bit confused. I've installed a printer in cups using the web
interface and it works fine. All the tutorials I've read though refer to
/var/spool/lpd/lp but on my system this doesn't exist. I'm guessing this is
because I'm not using lpd, I'm using cups. There are a few

likelihood ratio tests using glmmPQL
I am analysing some binary data with a mixed effects model using
glmmPQL.
I am aware that I cannot use the AIC values to help me find the minimum
adequate model so how do I perform likelihood ratio tests? I need to
fix on the minimum adequate model but I'm not sure of the proper way to
do this.
Thank you very much,

AIC in lmer when using PQL
I am analysing binomial data using a generalised mixed effects model. I
understand that if I use glmmPQL it is not appropriate to compare AIC
values to obtain a minimum adequate model.
I am assuming that this means it is also inappropriate to use AIC values
from lmer since, when analysing binomial data, lmer also uses PQL
methods. However, I wasn't sure so please could somebody clarify

Can't print to NT printer
I need some help with getting this NT printer setup with Samba server.
I think I have modified all the required files and don't know what else is
missing. An outside observation should find the missing link.
Here is my /etc/printcap:

issue with varSel.svm.rfe in package MCRestimate
Hello all,
I would like to perform SVM-RFE (Guyon et al. 2002) in R and have only found
one implementation of this algorithm. The function belongs
to the MCRestimate package but when I try to use it I encounter a problem
- the function appears to be missing a required package or other function
that I simply cannot find available anywhere.
Here is my session info followed by a simple example

AW: How to print to CLIENT local printer?
You must create a output filter.
Edit /etc/printcap and add your client printer like this:
...
PC-PRINTER:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/PP01:\
:mx#0:\
:lp=/dev/null:\
:if=/var/spool/lpd/Filter/PP01:\
:sh:
...
Adjust the printcap parameters as needed (spool directory, directory to find
the filter script). Make sure the lpd can access the directory. Consult your
manual.
Now create the filter

Samba & LPRng: Printer Status in Windows
I know this question has been answered here a while back, but I have not been able to find the mailing with the posts on it.

I have a redhat server that I am using as a file/print server for student use. I am using samba to help the users with Windows. The problem I have is that when using printing a user can submit a print job, and it prints fine, but cannot see the

Wishlist: simple legend options (PR#7400)
Hello!
I was loooking in R-bugs and found under wishlist-fullfilled wish for
"smart" placement of a legend. This has already been done in package
gplots in function smartlegend.
One question. This "bug-report" is under wishlist-fullfilled. Is it really
fullfilled?

Samba Printing to Win98
I am trying to allow printing from my linux box to my win98 box, to which my
epson stylus printer is attached. It's just not happening...something tells me
I'm flirting with a world of pain.
I *can* print a file by going:
smbclient //rory/EPSON
translate
print /etc/group
but I cannot print from applications, nor can i use smbprint. I tried going:
cat /etc/passwd | sh -x smbprint

It would be nice if names(obj) would give slot names as well. Since for many
people slots are new, the first thing that happens is you try to access what's
in them and can't find how to do it. If you don't know that slotNames() exists,
it can be very frustrating. Moreover, if you

Can't print to win client
I've connected a BSD machine to a WinME machine in the office to
begin experimenting with samba. I've been messing about with it but
I can't get a print of samba files to the WinME printer.
My /var/spool/lpd/canon directory contains .config, .seq, status
and lock files and a whole bunch of files that aren't getting printed
to the remote printer.
my .config file has: server=ICE1

It would be nice if legend had the option of some default locations you could
choose instead of entering specific coordinates, like "topleft",
"topright","topcenter", etc. based on par("usr") coordinates. I know I've wanted
it so often I've made my
