roaming profiles Samba 2.2.3a and W2K SP2
Hello samba-insiders, we have a WinNT 4.0 SP5 PDC and our samba 2.2.3a is member of the domain. The roaming profiles of our clients stored on the samba 2.2.3a server. All seams to be perfect but clients with W2K SP2 cannot use there roaming profiles. ---> "Access Denyed" is the W2K error message. But if the same user loggs on on a client machine with W2K SP1 all things are ok. In

Antwort: roaming profiles Samba 2.2.3a and W2K SP2
Hi Rene, I have found this in the "whats new" for Samba 2.2.3 Added/changed parameters. ------------------------- ... nt acl support This parameter has been changed to a per-share option, and is very useful in enabling Windows 2000 SP2 to load/save profiles from a Samba share. ... Maybe it helps! Regards, Thomas Bitte antworten an <rene.lenga@atacama.de> Gesendet von:

Windows XP SP2 on a Samba 3.0.10 PDC - roaming profiles won't work
Hi All, I am having some trouble getting Windows XP with SP2 connected to a Samba 3.0.10-based domain controller. With SP1, I only had to change a single registry key to prevent Windows from demanding a signed connection, then it worked. But with SP2, and the same samba-configuration, I have noticed that upon log-off, the user's profile is updated by the user "root" of the group

Problems with Roaming Profiles under Win2k SP3
I'm having a problem wtih 2.2.6pre2 that I seem unable to resolve. When logging out of my Win2K SP3 machine, I receive the error "Windows cannot update the roaming profile. The system cannot find the file specified." Checking the archives and google brings up several references to errors around the copying of ntuser.dat from the local machine, to a temporary file on the

ACL & roaming profiles - XP SP2 - Samba 3.14a
Hi, we just upgraded to samba 3.14a from 3.12 I guess. Now does anyone have working profiles with XP? I looked around on the net, and there seems to be a problem, still or again... With the previous version installed it worked well. Jan Kellerhoff

samba pdc & ldap without roaming profiles
Hi list At the momtent I use samba as a pdc with tdbsam as passwd backend. I plan to use ldap and I already tried it out. Unfortunately I didn't find a way to disable roaming profiles. I used the smbldap tools. First there is the question if I should use add user script = /usr/sbin/smbldap-useradd -m "%u" with the -a (is a Windows User) option. If I don't, then windows account

Samba4 roaming profiles & ownership of profile.V2 folders
I've got roaming profiles for one account on a Debian/Jessie AD DC server but I can't get them to work for the other accounts. The differences are that the one account is also a Linux account in the AD DC and is in the Domain Admins group. The other accounts were created with ADUC on a Windows 7 machine logged in as the Domain Admins user just mentioned. They are Domain Users but not

Cannot print to cups 1.14 from Windows 2000 SP2 using samba 2.2.3a
Hi! Well, since I don't get IPP to work, I've also tried to setup the printer using samba 2.2.3a. With Samba I get a little farther, however I still cannot print. When I setup a new printer in the printer wizard of Windows 2000 SP2, I selected "Name" and pressed "Next" to get the network browser. There I see the setup printer queues just fine. I then selected the

Roaming profiles
I want to setup a linux box with samba as a file and print server for a LAN of 20 NT 4.0 SP3 workstations. I want the home direcotories to be on the server the clients to have roaming profiles. For this, do I have to make the linux box a domain controller? I want to avoid it if I can, because the domain control code in not on the production releases. I don't want to setup an NT server either.

Advice on: sshd[28182]: PAM pam_set_item: NULL pam handle passed
Hi, Ive got winbind and samba working great (version 2.2.3) on our RH 7.1 box's. But as we have about 200 users on our domain, we want to restrict ssh access on our linux box's. So I created a group on the NT PDC called: Winbind In this group, Ive only put our developers and us, the sy admins. In the /etc/ssh/sshd_config, I entered the line: AllowGroups MMEBS+Winbind. Thus, allowing

Roaming Profiles + Win2000 + XP
Hi, Ive got my PDC up and running under samba, it is serving several windows 2000 machines and a windows XP machine. The problem is when using Roaming Profiles....... Were using Outlook XP + IMAP Mail for the users emails, which works fine.... the only problem comes when logging off the machine and back to another. The windows 2000 machines seem to update the profile changes back to the server.

Hello, i must admit that i'm totally lost. After working a lot of hours my new samba server is still not running fine. I had read a lot of papers but i have no idea what's going wrong. My goal: --------- Samba 3.0.9 (Fedora Core 2) working as a PDC for windows 2000 professional client (with sp4 and all hotfixes applied) _with_ roaming user profiles. My status: ---------- *
