2.2.3a multiple users from w2k term server denied access
Hiya!
Running Samba 2.2.3a on HP-UX 11.0, precompiled binaries from Porting Centre. Everything works fine until we have a customer that wants to put their app on w2k terminal server. When the drives get mapped they are serviced by the same smbd daemon on the UNIX box; this is the same behavior as if you mapped the same drive twice from any windows client.
After 2 or 3 users get drives mapped,

Dovecot 1.x on AIX -> Dovecot 2.x on Ubuntu
We are working on migrating Dovecot 1.2.17 running on AIX 5.3 (believe it
or not!) to Dovecot 2.0.13 running on Ubuntu. We have hundreds of users
mboxes we will be migrating. My question is regarding the index files.
Should we remove those after the migration, but before we open it up to
users so Dovecot can create new ones?
I did a test migration of a single user, and Dovecot detects the

Samba 2.2.5-10, W2K PDC and Winbind - Authentication issues
I've gotten passed the problem I had with joining the domain. However, I
am still having problems with the authentication of domain user accounts
against the samba server.
wbinfo -u shows my users from the domain correctly.
wbinfo -g does the same for my domain groups.
getent passwd shows the domain users as expected.
wbinfo -t shows a good trust.
wbinfo -a allows me to authenticate any

2.2.5, Sol 2.8, W2k - Printers...Status: Access Denied unable to connect - ??
hi
When I highlight a printer icon in Win 2K, the Status bar shows
Status: Access Denied, Unable to connect.
It shows this for all samba printers.
I can print a test page even though it shows access denied.
Anyone know how to fix this?
thanks.

After uploading the print drivers from w2k and pressing OK or Apply...
or selecting this printer from the uploaded drivers and pressing OK and

OK Ladies and Gentlemen I could use a hand on this one. I'm new to the

vfs_fruit causes delay in listing directories for Windows clients
Hai,
Can you tell the following that helps.
OS ?
Samba Version? ( pre-builded or source )
Kernel version?
I think you need to wait for 4.9.4 if all patches ive seen on vfs_fruit are getting in.
These might help. Go through bugzilla, you might find more about this here.

vfs_fruit causes delay in listing directories for Windows clients
Listing directories with many files (10000+) from a Windows client is
nociceably slower when vfs_fruit is enabled on the samba server compared
to the same setup without vfs_fruit.
On my setup it's roughly 2.5 times slower. To me it looks like this is
caused by the getxattr call which is only present with vfs_fruit
activated and introduces an additional delay of ~ 0.00033 s per listed

INN with SSL
Hello, on a INN mailinglist i have found , that in order to use INN over SSL
i need to call another instance of nnrpd like this :
su news -c '/usr/local/news/bin/nnrpd -D -c
/usr/local/news/etc/readers-ssl.conf
-p 563 -S'
I am using INN from official centos 5.1 rpm .
My question is, where to init scripts /etc/init.d/inn or somewhere else put
such a line to have INN listening on 563 for

Bridge networking in Debian
Starting a new Xen setup, with off-the-shelf Wheezy, and the standard Xen packages,
which turn out to be Xen 4.1
I used to just put a (network-script network-bridge) in the Xen setup, but I guess
you can''t do that anymore...
There are a variety of recipes to setup the network and bridging, since apparently
the Xen setup doesn''t does this for you anymore. I''ve gone

Hallo,
on a school server in the neighbourhood Samba 3.0.22 (only SMB server,
"security = server") serves many Windows2000/XP clients in their
classrooms.
The last lesson on a friday ends at 13:35, then the pupils shut down the
clients and leave the room.

INN removed from CentOS 6
I use inn to make internal company announcements and
discussions available to remote offices.
I note inn is removed form RHEL 6. What replaces inn?
http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Technical_Notes/apc.html
Will inn be available from elsewhere? Will I have to compile
it?
Should I modify my scripts to create and install html files
for a web server? That would

Weighting the author of a doc when that term can also appear as a frequent term in other docs
We have a corpus of academic papers. Sometimes it happens that there is
an academic controversy and one paper is a response or rebuttal to
another paper. The name of the author of the first paper may appear many
times in the second paper. So in light of this, how should we set our
weight on the author field?
Here is an example:

user on W2K SP2 SERVER cannot auth on samba PDC (but W2K WS yes)
Client = W2K OS Server SP2 but not server for anything except a shared

I've just built a brand new domain with samba as PDC.
I did not have any problem with W98, NT WS, NT Server, 2K WS and XP WS.
All of these joined the domain successfully and users are happy.
But, a user in the company runs a W2K SP2 os SERVER as workstation.

W2K, W2K Server and samba 3.0.1
Hi, I've a Windows 2000 workstation trying to connect to a Samba 3.0.1
(Redhat 9.0) domain member of a Windows 2000 Domain (Served by a Windows
2000 Server). From the windows workstation end, I get "incorrect
password or unknown username" and from the samba end I get the log at
the bottom of this email. If I restart the samba server it will work
