Samba in a Win2000 / NT Enterprise
Hello, I am currently integrating 20 workstations and 5 Servers (all Dell Products) running Red Hat 7.2 (2.4.7-10) into a Windows 2000 / NT Enterprise network of about 2,000 users. I have been using a Samba server (version 2.2.1) with "security=domain" so that any user with a W2K domain logon can access the Samba file server. However, I want to move into full integration and set up all

Mailing list etiquette? [mildly off-topic]
Since i've gotten so much help from this list with my samba issues, i've been trying to be active and help others, but heres my question. If I reply to someone, should I send it JUST to the mailing list, JUST to the person i'm helping, or both? I've been keeping it on the mailing list, but some people may want the help to come into their main mailbox. Should I send to both?

SWAT not saving a conf file!
Hey guys, I've been using samba for quite some time now (over a year). I have a problem however, and that is that I can not seem to get SWAT to work properly. I need to have SWAT working for some of the management cluebies around here (bad idea if you ask me). Anyways, everything for SWAT is fully installed, and it appears that it works properly. Theres just one problem. You can't save

Debugging samba/winbind SMB share
Hi, I had an active-directory authentication based samba system up and running, working well. However, I tried to access an SMB share on the server a few days back and just get a windows login user/password prompt. I'm trying to debug why theres a "system error". PAM is configured for pam_winbind.so in /etc/pam.d/system-auth, and I can ssh into the system using a domain

: newbie estimating survival curve w/ survfit for coxph
I am wondering how to estimate the survival curve for a particular case(s) given a coxph model using this example code: #fit a cox proportional hazards model and plot the #predicted survival curve fit <- coxph( Surv(futime,fustat)~resid.ds+strata(rx)+ecog.ps+age,data=ovarian[1:23,]) z <- survfit(fit,newdata=ovarian[24:26,],individual=F) zs <- z$surv zt <-

[patch] testing needed: "xenif" dom0_ops
This patch changes the dom0_ops structures as discussed in the thread "32/64-bit hypercall interface". Keir, I added a struct inside XENIF_PTR() to catch direct users in the general code; it was quite useful to have the compiler identify those spots. I have compiled x86_32 and run it with xm-test[1] under qemu. There are 63 passed tests, so that''s good. I still need to

I AM computer literate, but unfortunately for me most of my 20 yrs in using computers has been windows based. switched to fed core a few months ago, love it, but its extremely frustrating not being able to just RUN something... theres alot of effort going into just getting a program to run. after

[patch] calloc arguments
Hi, it looks like a few users of calloc had their arguments backwards. I checked the other users and they seem fine. Since one of those is in ioemu code, does that mean we (I?) will be submitting that bug to qemu upstream? -- Hollis Blanchard IBM Linux Technology Center Fix swapped calloc() arguments. Dark Secret of Winbind
First of all hello to everybody on this list. Question 1: I?m having a little (?) problem with winbind. To be short here is the situation: Runnign w2k AD on native mode. Linux box is Red Hat 7.2 with 2.4 kernel. Authentication from my W2K Active Directory server fails. I get following outputs with commands--> wbinfo -t --> secret is bad 0x000001 wbinfo -u --> Error looking up domain

Troubles setting up Shoutcast relay
Hi ! Well what I basically want to do is set up a local relay in our company for some popular shoutcast radio streams available on the winamp.com main site. Right now like 10 or 20 ppl here are listening to basically the same two or three streams, so thats quite a waste of bandwith. So I thought there must be some kind of stream relay that would connect as client to the Shoutcast server and be a

[patch] bitops on irq_cpustat_t->__softirq_pending
As mentioned earlier, PowerPC''s atomic ops operate on longs, and we have made our *_bit() prototypes use long* (instead of void*) to warn us of problems at compile time. Here''s one caller that was flagged: test_and_set_bit(nr, &softirq_pending(cpu)) Accordingly, we need __softirq_pending to be long, not int. PowerPC is currently using a few files unmodified from the x86

[patch] IO-APIC in drivers/pci/quirks.c
This patch moves the IO-APIC include inside #ifdef CONFIG_X86_IO_APIC , which is how Linux 2.6 has it. This is needed for architectures without asm/io_apic.h. I''ve verified that x86 still builds; please apply. Signed-off-by: Hollis Blanchard <hollisb@us.ibm.com> -- Hollis Blanchard IBM Linux Technology Center
