Samba 2.2.2 as a PDC for XP logins
And you have user and machine accounts that work? I had actually a big problem joining a Samba PCD from a Windows XP machine. However I don't remember what exactly I had to do to make it work. (I never changed the Samba settings, just fiddled around in Windows.) //Anders > Yeah, all applied but still no luck > -----Original Message----- > From: Anders Widman

Unable to access Samba shares from Windows XP home ed ition
Thanks Anders, I'll take this as verification that it can be done and struggle on. Does it require registry tweaks? > -----Original Message----- > From: Anders Widman [SMTP:andewid@tnonline.net] > Sent: Thursday, February 21, 2002 11:05 AM > To: samba-admin@lists.samba.org; Harvey, Sean > Cc: 'samba@lists.samba.org' > Subject: Re: [Samba] Unable to access Samba

smbd daemon uses all filedescriptors
We are running samba on a number of HP systems running HP/UX 11.00. We moved from samba version 2.0.7. to samba version 2.2.3a. We have about 200-400 smbd's running on one host. Samba version 2.2.3a was running without any problems for about two weeks. But now on two different servers indepent of each other, the file table was full. We found out that ONE smbd used about 5000 !!

Help with beanplot fromatting
Dear Helpful R Users, I am graphing some data using the beanplot, but I am having trouble getting the output I desire. I have five tanks (A-E) and 2 groups for each tank grp1 or grp2, except tank C where there is only grp1. (I only changed the grouprep to "C grp1" for the example) When I plot them, I would like A B C(only grp1 - half of the bean plot) then D and E (as full beans).

Problem with lmer and wiki example
I am trying to duplicate the example by Spencer Graves in the wiki, using lmer with the Nozzle data. http://wiki.r-project.org/rwiki/doku.php?id=guides:lmer-tests However the Chisq value and the fitAB values that are calculated are different compared to those in the example. I also get a warning message when I attempt the fitAB. Does anyone have any guidance as to why this might happen and how

error when logging into system
Hello everyone, I have a CentOS 5 system. On this system, I used the usermod -n and groupmod -g to change the user id and the group id for a standard, regular user from 500 to 1000. I then ran the following commands (as root), to make sure all the files were changed to match: find / -uid 500 -exec chown 1000 {} \; -- and -- find / -gid 500 -exec chgrp 1000 {} \; Now, whenever I try to login

kstest vs shapirotest
Dear R-users Idea: Analysing tree height frequency with hist(), normal distribution (ks.test & shapiro.test) and skewness (package e1071 - thanks a lot for this useful package)as an indication of possible self-thinning in an experimental tree stand. Problem: Results from the ks.test and the shapiro.test are not comparable (see example of both tests). Tree height is a nice continuous

New overhead and MPU features in HTB
I just wanted to inform that there is new patch donated by Walter Karshat which implements packet overhead and MPU computations to the rate table. See diff for details on arguments. No tc binary available yet at I have to compile it on system with older glibc (not everyone use 2.3.2). ------------------------------- Martin Devera aka devik Linux kernel QoS/HTB maintainer

change uid/god below 100
Hi. Only indirectly related to zfs. I need to test diskusage/performance on zfs shared via nfs. I have installed nevada b64a. Historically uid/gid for user www has been 16/16 but when I try to add uid/gid www via smc with the value 16 I''m not allowed to do so. I''m coming from a FreeBSD backgroup. Here I alter uid using vipw and edit /etc/group afterwards. -- regards Claus

Samba newbie question
I am a newbie to Samba and have read the HOWTO-SMB and README files. Before you say RTFM, I have some very basic questions. The goal for me is to use the NT systems local printer, CD-R and scanner devices. The SMB documents talk a lot about the Client and Server. The source I have downloaded will create a smbd and nmbd. 1. Do I need anything running on the NT? 2. Do I need any special options

Finding overlaps in vector
<posted & mailed> Dear all, I'm trying to solve the problem, of how to find clusters of values in a vector that are closer than a given value. Illustrated this might look as follows: vector <- c(0,0.45,1,2,3,3.25,3.33,3.75,4.1,5,6,6.45,7,7.1,8) When using '0.5' as the proximity requirement, the following groups would result: 0,0.45 3,3.25,3.33,3.75,4.1 6,6.45 7,7.1

Recover botched drdb gfs2 setup .
Hi. The short story... Rush job, never done clustered file systems before, vlan didn't support multicast. Thus I ended up with drbd working ok between the two servers but cman / gfs2 not working, resulting in what was meant to be a drbd primary/primary cluster being a primary/secondary cluster until the vlan could be fixed with gfs only mounted on the one server. I got the single server

How to connect across the Internet
Hello All, Well my Samba server is up and running good, but I am now needing to be able to let some of my users connect to our server who is not located on our local network. Actually they are located some distance away and I would like to be able to allow then to connect. Has anyone had any success with this and how it might be done?
