PANIC and delayed drive mapping?
Hiya! Samba 2.0.7 on HP-UX 11.0. When a user tries to map a drive, the smb.log shows the following: NOTE: the stanza ending in PANIC repeats 3 times, snipped here for brevity ===================================== [2002/02/28 11:12:43, 1] smbd/server.c:(641) smbd version 2.0.7 started. UNC mapping for the homes section
Hi! Is there any way for the "HOMES" share to be mapped to \\server\whatever\%USERNAME% instead of \\server\%USERNAME% . I think that DFS still don't work fine for linux CIFS mounting. So, if I could do this kind of mapping, this would let me give users now the final UNCs and introduce DFS in a future time (when DFS mounting will be fully supported) without having to disturb

www.mycookbook.com not working - just shows apache page
Curt, This is really, really cool.... On hiccup for me though. All was well until I went to manage the cookbook application. The Start SCGI command gave the following output: D:\INSTAN~1\rails_apps\cookbook>..\..\ruby\bin\ruby.exe script\scgi_rails start -p 9999 -e production -D ERROR: Could not setup a SIGHUP handler. Web Services testing... Agile Book p. 435
I am attempting to test the web services added during chapter 20 of the Agile book. The code as written in the book yields 2 errors: test_find_product_by_id(BackendControllerApiTest): XMLParserError: syntax error Anyone hit this yet and get it to work? Thanks. Should "a" match "ä" in ferret?
Hi all, I have indexed a huge amount of data with text from several european languages. In the index are values like Georg Friedrich H?ndel. I would like a search phrase like "Georg Friedrich Handel" to find records with the real spelling of H?ndel but it doesn''t seem to work. Can anyone give me an idea of what I need to do to make this happen. A bit lost here and

PXE stack access via com32
Hi, I've checked the archives for my issue, and while there is relevant discussion, the problem the original poster was asking about didn't seem to have been resolved then either (~2 years ago). At any rate, basically what I'm trying to do is send (possibly receive) UDP packets via the PXE stack using the com32 API (using version 3.11 of syslinux). I have followed both the comboot

File locking problems and duplicate emails with the snarf plugin
Two weeks ago we switched all our IMAP users (around 25,000) from the Washington IMAP server to Dovecot, and since then there have been several occasions when reading new email just hangs, and duplicate emails appear. We are using the 'snarf' plugin to copy new email to the inbox, and it looks as though the problems are caused by file locking. We have been using the Washington IMAP server

Word and samba
Greetings Group I think the Word crashing problem is quite common and does not confine itself to Samba as PDC. Running Word with any file open on a Samba server seems to invite trouble and file trashing. This seems to more of a problem with Win2000 and XP than Win9X and NT. I suspect that Micorsoft have "improved" the code to "optimise" performance for Micorsoft

Stale NFS file handle and duplicated messages
We recently moved all our users from the Washington IMAP server to Dovecot. There has been a substantial improvement in performance, but some users are reporting duplicate messages, and we see 'Stale NFS file handle' errors in the syslog. Does anyone know what would cause this ? The errors relate to the index file, eg. Nov 29 00:49:47 imap-e.ucl.ac.uk dovecot: [ID 107833 mail.error]

understanding behavior of "merge"
I'm trying to bootstrap resample from a repeated measures dataset. I sample a vector of "ID"'s from my dataframe with replacement. Then I merge this back with my dataframe. I'm re-sampling subjects in the dataset rather than rows of the data. I thought I could use the left/right join features of the merge to select the records I want from the dataframe (mydataframe), like

HP3000 problem
Hi I'm new to this list, so I apologise if this has ever come up before. I'm using Samba on an HP3000 and can view, change, update files through NT with no problems. The issue I have is when I create a file on the HP3000 is always adds special <CR><LF> characters, which then invalidates the information in the file in NT. Does anyone out there know a way I can remove these

Samba PDC and Word
I have Samba running as a PDC and it works perfectly, until that is, a Win 2000 user authenticated by the PDC and with a profile on the Samba server wants to access Word and then after a minute or so Word crashes, I got the same result with a Redhat PDC and also with an SME server distro. Informed suggestions other than dump Word are very welcome... John Russell Digital Media Lab University of

Trusted domains with ldapsam_compat in samba 3
Hi all :-) We are currently hosting a SAMBA domain that provides login & file serving for public clusters around the university campus. We are using Samba 3.0.10, with an LDAP server that uses a samba 2.x schema. A department would now like to trust our domain for authentication, and use their own domain to administer their windows boxes. Will we be able to create a domain trust account

Any chance to get 0.11.3 on windows soon ?
Hi, I''m working on a Ferret-based application which indexes content in all European languages. Thus, I have to deal with those funny European characters. After googling a bit, I decided to move on with a custom European analyzer based on MappingFilter, as suggested in the Ferret rdoc. Everything works fine with Ferret 0.11.3 on Mac OS X. But this application needs to run on both

prexec change between 3.0.24 to 3.0.25
Hello, I've been testing out 3.0.25 before putting it into production and came across an issue. As a simple example.. in a share definition root preexec = echo "hey there, hi there, hello" > /tmp/hiya.txt works fine under 3.0.24 not so under 3.0.25, /tmp/hiya.txt isn't created. Cranking up the debugging and using some other similiar tests it seems to me that Samba is in

SAMBA AND PRINTING
Hi. I'm sharing printers over samba, and I would like to know if there is a way for a samba server to behave like a Windows Server, that is, when I install a remote printer, it installs the respective drivers. When I connect to a samba printer, it tells me that the server has no suitable NULL printer drivers. Is there a way to configure samba to do that? Thanks --

Premature termination of script
