iconv.c / static charset prototype/assembler bug?
Hi! I think there is a little bug in the current samba release (3.0.22). Take a look at cp850.c at the last line and you will see following definition: SMB_GENERATE_CHARSET_MODULE_8_BIT_GAP(CP850) Using the macros from charset.c, the preprocessor expands this to: NTSTATUS charset_CP850_init(void) \ { \ return

plaintext backend
Hello I would like to use plaintext backend with a simple Samba 3.0.6 configuration to get rid of the system of double passwords and rely just on the plain old unix /etc/passwd ones. However I couldn't find any information about it in 1) man smb.conf 2) online Samba official HOWTO I tried putting passdb backend = plaintext into a smb.conf file with security=share and the Samba server

SMB Signing with "map to guest = " options
Hi, I'm using samba-4.7.x I have some confusions over "map to guest=" options with setting SMB Signing 1. Set "*Server signing =auto*", "*map to guest=bad uid*" and set "client signing in windows 2k12 server group policy" to "Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (Always)” = *Disable*" SMB_Server is joined to Windows 2k12

Lots of RPC-related compile errors (conflicting types, too many arguments, ...) trying to update Samba from 3.5 to 4.6
Hello Samba experts, due to the "SambaCry" issue (CVE-2017-7494), I am trying to update the Samba server installation on my Thecus NAS (dating back to 2011) from version 3.5.16 to the current 4.6.4. So far, I have successfully * created a cross-compiling toolchain for the NAS (i686-nptl-linux-gnu) based on gcc-5.2 * compiled Python and Samba library dependencies for my

ACLs under Samba 3.3.0
Is behavior of ACLs under Samba 3.3.0 (Sernet) completely different from that under version 3.2.7? The release notes only talks about some "fixes". I installed version 3.3.0 and got completely different result with the same filesystem and the exact same samba configuration. The ACLs behaved strangely and appeared very different under Windows ACL editor. Users were now unable to

Problems with Samba 2.2.3a DC and PAM
Basically, this is going to be just a question to see if what I want to do can be done, since I have had no luck in doing it so far... I have set up a 2.2.3a domain controller, and I can join Windows XP clients to the domain, and log in as domain users. I want to use PAM to enforce account restrictions, such as login time using pam_time. I currently have the *stacked* version of the

Differences with net join
All; I'm getting closer to tracking down my problem (I hope). Since I want samba to verify the windows users from the Windows domain, I did the usual net join. But it still doesn't get the users from there, I still need an smbpasswd file. So... now the question (for the real samba gurus): Is there a substantial difference between: net ads join -w <domain/workgroup> and net rpc

Cannot Find Windows Shared Printer
I am running CentOS 7 with Samba version 4.9.1. I have a Windows shared printer that I cannot set up but I am not sure if this is a CentOS issue or a Samba issue. When I run the printer setup GUI, it is not able to find any shared printer. If I run smbclient I get this error: smbclient -L dap001 -N Unable to initialize messaging context Anonymous login successful ??????????????
