PDC, NIS and password sync.
Hi. I have for a while been trying to get my samba 2.2.1a PDC to be a NIS master and still maintain the password sync feature, without any luck. Now I made something that seems to work - but I would like to get your input to see if what I do is ok or it is something I should'nt do. 1: Samba uses passwd to sync the password (not yppasswd) 2: cron runs make in /var/yp every 15 minutes to

rsync-2.5.6 performance sucks between winXP and Solaris8
If I try to rsync OpenOffice-directory (OO as an example, 155 MBytes) to Solaris8-machine/rsync-server it takes 4-5 minutes, about 70 MBytes gets transfered and eventually rsync.exe/winXP "dies"; actually winXP's net doesn't responde anymore and I have to boot whole machine! But when I try to do same between Linux and Solaris everything works fine, transfer speed is about

smbfs support under Solaris8?
The smbmount man page states that the kernel must support the smbfs file system for ambmount to function. I've been unable to determine whether Solaris8 supports smbfs. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has some experience here. Regards, Rick Wightman rwightman@agfor.nb.ca

What is the right script: W2K AD, Solaris8-SMB/KRB/LDAP, Win Clients?
I'm so confused about the use of Samba. This is my situation: I have one Win2k domain with Active Directory. The main network has only one PDC, but in others networks I have 5 servers more, all under the same main domain (I don't have subdomains). I need to put some files in a Solaris 8 and 9 servers that Win2kPro and WinXP can to access, with its domain accounts. Aditionally, I
