Internal error in nmbd / Correction
Hi folks, I had some trouble running Samba 2.0.7 on my SuSE Linux 6.2. Configuration and installation worked fine, but after starting up smbd and nmbd as daemons I found a message about an internal error in log.nmb that the process received signal 11 (SIGSEGV). Here it is [2000/08/15 14:59:31, 0] nmbd/nmbd_become_dmb.c:become_domain_master_browser_wins(356) become_domain_master_browser_wins:

Problems with nmbd (samba 3.0.10)
Hi, I've installed a samba 3.0.10 (configured with --enable-cups, --withsmbmount, --with-acl-support) on a standard SUSE Linux 9.2-Distribution with Kernel 2.6.8-24.10-smp. The Samba-Server works as PDC since a month now and does it fine. But one big problem still exists: After about 10-20 hours after the start of smb+nmb the nmbd stops working. The symtoms are: No new users can login into

Repeating entries in log.nmb and log.smb
I'm running Samba on my Sun ultra 1 with Solaris 2.6 and have noticed that my log.nmb file is growing tremendously. In addition, my log.smb is also growing but not quite as fast. The log.nmb has the following entries repeating every few seconds. Since 3/18/99, my log.nmb file has grown to be 22mb. [1999/06/14 09:13:14, 1] nmbd/nmbd.c:(672) Netbios nameserver version 2.0.0 started.

Probably a bug in samba audit
Hi. I got this email-address from BUGS.txt file of the samba distribution. I read it carefully. I got configured and working samba, I work with samba above one year. I still have a problem, and, according to the samba log output, I think it's probably a bug. When I try to use the shares with audit support, I have my Far disconnected and telling me that something is wrong. I have that

Printing problem. (nmb related??)
Hi Folks, I've been using linux for the past 4 years. I'm currently running RH 6.2 and samba 2.0.6. My goal has been to eliminate MS from my computer and I'm almost there. I'm trying to use samba to allow printing to my printer from other W95 & W98 computers. I've read the HOWTOs and generated the smb.conf file which is at the end of this message. I used the [test]

SAMBA 3.0.22 unusual nmbd spawning
Hi, we had upgraded our SAMBA PDC from 3.0.14 to 3.0.22 on a Gentoo system. Now we have problems with peculiar spwaning of too many "nmbd" processes. In smb.conf WINS support is activated, so I would expect two nmb processes. But as you can see in the process list, during SAMBA is running after some minutes another nmbd child is spawned. I tracked down the problem to one example: We

'password server = *' not binding to PDC emulator -- "Domain password server not available."
I am attempting to configure Samba 2.2.0 in our test laboratory to use "security = domain" to allow us to engineer a solution to move our existing Samba 2.2.0 production servers from "security = server" to "security = domain" with minimal change/impact. This work is being carried-out as we suspect that the "security = server" setting is responsible for

Bug ID: 26222 - SMB Storm
Please include the following to bug ID: 26222 at: http://bugs.samba.org/?findid=26222 More checking shows that closing a search window on Windows in the middle of it's search doesn't stop the SMB activity. Network utilization remains high, and it seems as if the server is stuck searching. In an attempt to verify, I created a share on Win2k, and followed the same procedure: Server:

configuring samba for virtualbox guest os host only network
Dear samba users: I am new on this list and know samba at a very basic level. I use openSUSE 42.2 Leap with its default samba 4.4.2 version. This is what I would like to achieve: I have a guest windows OS in virtualbox 5.1. Occasionally I have to print documents from this guest OS using my printer configured in openSUSE. I would like to use samba to share my printer between the linux host and

ps -A | grep smbd?
Hi folks, I have had a samba 2.2.8a running for a while on a suse box. Now recently I have had some strange problems. "ps -A | grep nmb" Shows nothing. But, "lsof | grep mbd" shows me smbd and nmbd are running. The smbd.pid and nmbd.pib are in /usr/var/locks/. Now, why out of the blue would "ps -A" not show the processes? I upgraded samba to 2.2.8a a while ago,

winbind + PC-NetLink
Hi EveryBody! We have a NT 4.0 Domain using SUN PC-NetLink 2.0 . I'd like to join a Samba server , but I cannot! The version of the samba is 2.2.8a running on SuSE Linux 9.0 Professional. The configuration file of samba containing this: # smb.conf is the main Samba configuration file. You find a full commented # version at /usr/share/doc/packages/samba/examples/smb.conf.SuSE # Date:
