[PATCH 4/5][REPOST][BTRFS-PROGS] Avoid to scan cdrom and floppy
Hi all,
the commands "btrfs filesystem show" and "btrfs device scan" look at the /dev
directory (and it subdirectories) for every block devices.
This is a slow process because floppy and cdrom are also checked. Moreover,
as highlighted by Helmut, if udev is not used, the /dev directory is populated
by high number of non-existant devices, which slow the process.
My patch

[PATCH-resend] Implement SSH2_FXF_APPEND
Hi,
I submitted this a few weeks ago but here it is again since I got no
response. If there is somewhere else I should send this, please tell
me.
This patch implements SSH2_FXF_APPEND in the sftp server. It is a
fairly trivial patch and applies against the proper OpenSSH and the
Portable edition. I would argue that it is important for OpenSSH to
implement SSH2_FXF_APPEND since it is in the

supporting --fake-super on opensolaris (zfs) destination
Hello everybody. I wrote a small patch in order to support what I think
is an absolutely needed feature in order to make rsync-based backups
retaining complete ownership permission when writing to an opensolaris
machine using --fake-super.
My goal is making backups of linux boxes to opensolaris/zfs.
In order to make it work just do
patch -p1 < patch_file.txt
inside rsync source tree.

[PATCH 6/7] qemu: Implement virtio-pstore device
Add virtio pstore device to allow kernel log files saved on the host.
It will save the log files on the directory given by pstore device
option.
$ qemu-system-x86_64 -device virtio-pstore,directory=dir-xx ...
(guest) # echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger
$ ls dir-xx
dmesg-1.enc.z dmesg-2.enc.z
The log files are usually compressed using zlib. Users can see the log
messages directly on the

problem with smbc_init in libsmbclient
Hi,
I have attached a very simple c program, that first does a smbc_init and
then a smbc_opendir. The problem: smbc_init return an error (No such file
or directory) and then i get a segmentation fault. I don't know what
possibly could be the problem. Maybe some of you guys have an idea. I
think i have libsmbclient from samba 2.2.7(compiled on my own system) and
the rest of the samba stuff is

Fw: [RFC] makedumpfile: xen extraction
Hi,
I sent the following e-mail to kexec-mailing list (kexec@lists.infradead.org)
since subjects of makedumpfile are discussed on the mailing list.
I want to inform this to xen developers since I think this function is
useful for xen developers.
Thanks.

Samba 2.0.6 Compilation Warning under Solaris 7
I am trying to install Samba 2.0.6 under Solaris 7 (latest Sun-recommended
patches applied) using the GNU C compiler "gcc version 2.95.1 19990816
(release)". It seems strange to me that there is a compilation warning because
the purpose of the wrapper for which the compilation warning is issued is to
make sure typing and results are correct.
The problem appears to be due to a

[PATCH] btrfs-progs: make btrfs dev scan multi path aware
We should avoid using non multi-path (mp) path for mp disks
As of now there is no good way (like api) to check that.
A workaround way is to check if the O_EXCL open is unsuccessful.
This is safe since otherwise the BTRFS_IOC_SCAN_DEV ioctl would
fail if the disk-path can not be opened with the flag O_EXCL set.
This patch also includes some (error) print format changes related
to the btrfs

Proposed function file.backup
Dear R Core:
In the kutils package, I wrote a function that is so handy that I would
like to ask you put it in R itself.
file.backup() will look at a file, find its last modification time, and
create a new backup with a name that appends YYYYMMDD-HHMM to the file
name. So now, whenever I worry that running write.csv or saving a graph
might destroy something valuable, I use an idiom like
