Repeatable, But Time Varying R GUI Crash
Hello, I'm having a problem in R. The R GUI is crashing with a message to contact Microsoft for the solution. I've contacted Microsoft and they are of no help. Below is a distilled set of code that will cause the crash. As you will see, there are two do-loops within which is a "load" command. The crash usually occurs after 200*400 (=80,000) to 2,000*400(=800,000)

Printers: Fedora + WinXPHome
I have a network with 1 Linux box (host), 2 Win98 machines, and 1 WinXPHome machine. There is a Deskjet attached to the Linux box, and an HPLJ Postscript attached to one of the PCs. Until recently I was running RH7.1 with Samba 2.x and all computers could print to both printers (which, obviously, were shared). I have recently rebuilt the LInux box, and in the process installed Fedora, with Samba

Dovecot LDA + Fedora destribution = no go?
Anyone know of a way to get the LDA to work on the fedora distribution available on yum? I'm a big fan of the whole yum-auto-updating thing but if this isn't possible, I'll go tarball. -Charlie

Is there anyway to get a message's filename through the imap server? I've been developing a program for awhile and just switched to dovecot from courier. Courier had a file that for every line was like: <message uid> <message filename> Is there anway to get this information out of dovecot? -Charlie

Non R probability question
Dear R People: Here is a non-R probability question, please: There is a problem, originally posed from an American game show, called "Let's Make a Deal." A contestant makes a selection of one door, from Doors 1 through 3. He or she knows that there are 2 goats and 1 car behind those doors. Once the contestant makes the selection, say Door 2, then the host, Monty Hall, tells him

Backing Up To Windows File Server
Greetings, Working with dsync and setting up backups to a Windows file server. Problem seems to be that Windows is renaming the dovecot mail files (maildir) to Windows friendly filenames, and losing the Dovecot name. For example, 1323817925.M36368P32049.triata.globalchangemultimedia.net,S=2255,W=2318:2,S becomes 1AETPH~X. Does anyone have any ideas about how to tell Windows to not do this?

rsync fails to exclude... sometimes?
Hello List. I am using rsync to pull html files from a shared drive to 2 web server boxes to keep the files synchronized. However, I have a few files I do not want rsync to copy over because they contain information specific (IP address) to the box hosting them. Rsync seems to intermittently ignore the exclude statement and copies them from time to time. Is there a way to absolutely prevent

OSX 10.9.2, samba 4.1.6-Ubuntu vs Microsoft Office 2011 and Read-Only files
Upgraded from samba 3.6.20 on gentoo to samba 4.1.6 on Ubuntu Trusty. Since the upgrade all attempts to open Microsoft Office files results in the file being opened Read-Only. Found multiple posts from multiple sites dealing with similar problems.

I'm opening files and closing them (and unlinking them), but when I go through that process 509 times, the program halts and I get this error message: "cannot open the
