Interesting question
Gentlemen,
First of all, I would like to thank everyone for your input in this
mailing list. Every day I glean something new, which is really nice.
I also appreciate the effort that some of you put into making tc and
iptables work.
Now, on to my question.
I am running a home network that consists of about three computers,
plus a VoIP box. I would like to use tc in order to give priority to

Any long-time CentOS users on list using Ubuntu as well?
I've gotten roped into helping a local charity with some
computing/infrastructure snafus. It seems their last good Samaritan
installed Ubuntu all over the place and is "unavailable" now to clean up
the mess. CentOS has made me somewhat lazy because everything just
works out of the box for the most part and you've got the occasional
"yum update". :) These are

[LLVMdev] LLVM gcc front-end versus Microsoft Visual C++ 8.0 compiler
Hi!
I'm eager to know what compiler optimizes code better: Microsoft Visual C++
8.0 or LLVM's front-end?
If some tests and results are available I'd appreciate anyone who points me
at it.
Thanks.
Tony.

IIS proxying to lighttpd/apache to mongrel with SSL
This might not be a mongrel question so much as an IIS question, and
if so, my apologies.
I''m needing to switch a (ASP.NET) web application that''s running
behind a firewall appliance on IIS on port 8443 under SSL to a rails
web application -- a mongrel instance (and perhaps later apache or
lighttpd with new mod_core_prox in front of mongrel) on a different
server.

[LLVMdev] FYI: As of r159525, the LLVM test suite no longer uses tclsh-style quoting!
And there was much rejoicing, but probably also some pain.
I've gotten the builds green (after some minor snafus) on Linux and Mac,
and I think Windows should be fine (forcing the internal lit test runner
passes on Linux).
This has sped up test runs by about 33% on many-core Linux builds. =]
However, for folks who maintain an out-of-tree regression test suite who

Help ordinal mixed model!
Good afternoon, gentlemen! After several days studying and researching on
categorical data (various forums with answers from the owner of the library
- all incipient) how to interpret the output the function MCMCglmm, come to

Beginning lm
I have ussed lm to generate a basic line correlation:
fit = lm(hours.of.sleep ~ ToSleep)
Note: From "Bayesian Computation with R", Jim Albert, p. 7
I understand the simple y = mx + b line that this fits the data to. Now apparently I don't understand formulas. The documentation indicates that there is an implied "intercept" in the formula so now I want to try and fit the

using nrow to identify one row
Hi fellow R-users,
I have run into a problem when trying to identify the number of rows in a matrix. Say we have an arbitrary 5 by 5 matrix called temp:
temp <- matrix(norm(25), nrow=5)
The problem is that nrow(temp[1,]) returns NULL. I would like it to return 1 because in my larger program I am indexing the rows of large matrices according to another variable and I need to test when the

DB2 and SQL Server Drivers
Greetings,
I was wondering if anyone on this list has any experience using
Ruby/Rails with either DB2 or SQLServer. We''re currently in the later
planning stages of two RoR applications and I''m not 100% sure about the
state of these two drivers. Googling for this information locates
multiple sites that discuss various driver implementations (DBI, etc)
for both databases.

I googled on this, and despite getting some hits (due more to the
terms performance and tuning I think than anything) I was unable to
locate useful links for actual software.
I'm seeking software that will run on CentOS (or really any linux
install period) that will assist me in testing and tuning my
vehicle. I'm involved in import

I can run???
Hello
I'm using icecast 1.3.10, and streamcast-0.8
I started it with nohup icecast & and it was happy for a while then the stream dropped out. I looked in nohup.out, and there was about 500 lines that just said "You can run, but you can't hide!"
After I changed my underwear, I looked through the source to verify that the message was coming out of Icecast and not the RIAA

How do I extract coefficient standard errors /CI for a "coxme" model
Hello, and thanks for your time
I'm trying to extract standard errors to produce confidence intervals from a
multivariable coxme model object so I can write a function that will print
a summary for some reproducible research. As far as I can glean, the SE is
produced on-the-fly by the print method. I'll dig into the source code if I
have to, but I'd rather not have to.
Any help
