Password Syncing
Is there a way to have the Samba password file sync up from the Linux (Red Hat 7) password file either automatically or in a batch process. We change user passwords every view months and it's a pain to have to change both files each time. Brad Bell Maharam

Any HP-UX users left? was Re: Strange regression on FreeBSD buildslave regarding HP-UX scripts
Please see below. I think I know what is going on (it seems to be a make/gmake incompatibility), but to fix it, I need to rewrite some of the HP-UX packaging code, and I need a HP-UX user to help test this. Otherwise, I'm going to just rip it out for now, and add it back in when someone complains. On Feb 4, 2014, at 10:17 PM, Charles Lepple wrote: > For reasons unrelated to NUT, I

Samba newbie problems
Hi I have recently installed samba on a RH7.0 box. This box has win98 + linux rh7 installed and both os's are running well. The F drive on windows is FAT32 and is mounted r/w on linux RH7. Works fine. I also have a Win98se machine that needs to have full read/write access to some partitions on the RH7 box. Samba was found ideal for such setup. The problem I have is that I can't write to

Strange regression on FreeBSD buildslave regarding HP-UX scripts
For reasons unrelated to NUT, I upgraded my FreeBSD-x86 buildslave machine from 9.1 to 10.0. This involved rebuilding the whole ports tree, but no other (intentional) changes were made. Now, I get this error: (cd scripts && make top_distdir=../nut-2.7.1.5 distdir=../nut-2.7.1.5/scripts \ am__remove_distdir=: am__skip_length_check=: am__skip_mode_fix=: distdir) make[4]: don't

NT domain migration to LDAP/SAMBA
Hi, I'm attempting to migrate an NT4 domain to Samba3, and getting quite frustrated with stuff that seems not to work as advertised. I'd appreciate any help. I've set up an OpenLDAP server, and Samba 3, configured it as a BDC, and tried running "net rpc vampire". This all works, and Samba does the appropriate stuff to try and populate the LDAP database. The scripts I've

Browsing - NT/Windows 2000
Hi All, I am currently experiencing an unusual symptom some of you might be able to help me with. Currently I have two Windows based servers. The first is a Windows 2000 server upgrade of the original NT PDC. The second is the original NT BDC. The two servers running Samba 2.0.6 are both HP-UX 10.20. Historically, the BDC was always used for authentication Samba-wise as the password server,

NT user rights on a per file basis
We use samba in a heterogeneous Unix (HP-UX) and NT environment. One purpose is to give a group of about 25 NT users access to a common disk which is situated on one of our HP-Unix machines and a small group of Unix- and NT users to give them additionally access from NT to their Unix HOME directories. The NT users are authorized by an NT controller in the network. Our problem is that NT crashes if

bug?: building RPM of 2.5.1p1 uses wrong pam.d/ssh file for RH6 vs RH7
(I'm using RedHat 6.2 and openssl-0.9.5a-3) After rebuilding binary RPMs using openssh-2.5.1p1-1.src.rpm, I was unable to ssh in to a system upgraded to the new openssh-server-2.5.1p1.rpm After the failure, /var/log/messages on the destination indicated lots of PAM errors of the form "sshd[22814]: PAM [dlerror: /lib/security/pam_stack.so: can not open shared object file: No such file
