Samba 2.2 print driver setup
Jeremy, Will there be any methodology available in 2.2 for installing print drivers without browsing to the PRINT$ share from a W2K/NT box? I've got about 180 printers (at least 30 different models) shared and I'm encountering some difficulties in installing drivers. I'm using 2.2a2 in an environment with both W2K and W98 clients. One very annoying inconsistency with W2K is making my

IMPRINTS: mkprintpkg.pl unable to expand microsoft cab file
Jerry, Perhaps you could help me with a problem building a Samba print package. I've downloaded the drivers files I need from HP. I run the appropriate mkprintpkg.pl command, but it dies with the following output: [root@tux designjet]# /usr/local/imprints/bin/mkprintpkg.pl --name="hp1050c" --version=1.00 --display-name="HP DesignJet 1050c" -d "HP DesignJet 1050C

Samba 2.2 alpha3 released
Hi all, I have just released the fourth alpha snapshot of what will become Samba 2.2.0. It's available from the usual ftp sites, in the alpha directory as : <ftp mirror>:/pub/samba/alpha/samba-2.2.0-alpha3.tar.gz If people could test this snapshot out and provide feedback about what is broken and let the lists know that would help. The problem acting as a PDC for

Printer shares will not work - 2.0.7
First allow me to issue this disclaimer... The following problem is most likely due to my own ignorance. Now on to the problem... I'm setting up some printer shares that allow automatic driver installation to Win 9x clients [printer$]. When we try to use these, the drivers install beautifully, but we get the following error message when we try to print: "There was an error writing to

install_printer_drivers.pl and 2.2.4 issues
Hello - I've been working on getting ready to cut our 60+ Samba servers over from the old style printers.def approach to the new printer drivers databases. However, I'm have a hard time uploading the packages onto the server using the install_printer_drivers.pl script from Imprints 0.0.9b. To make sure I wasn't packaging them wrong I used the imprints.sourceforge.org server to get

Printer installation with imprints package

When I try to do the same from unix with the imprints package, ist screwed. The driver files get uploaded, but they don't register as an installed driver, with rpcclient 'enumdrivers' I don't 'see' them. When I set the

rpcclient enumdrivers enumprinters
Hi all, i'm new to the list and here's my first question : I'm trying to install several printer drivers on my samba server with imprints. I did a package with the NT/2000 and W9x drivers and the mkprintpkg command. Then I used the command install_printer_drivers.pl to install the files in the appropriate directories. So now i'd like to check the drivers available and the

I have a few different problems with samba 2.2.5 PLEASE HELP
I am running samba 2.2.5 on a Redhat Linux 7.3 box in a very large Windows NT domain, and I am running into a few different issues that make no sense to me. 1) For some reason my local clients can only get to the server by using it's fully qualified domain name. If you use the short name you receive a message about not being permitted to connect from the current workstation ( or something

I have all of the necessary files plucked out of the Adobe Postscript Windows driver package, but I'm hitting the problem when I come to run "cupsaddsmb -v ..." that the "rpcclient adddrivers" command always fails with NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL. Using rpcclient to install printer drivers
Hi all, I have just discovered docos for rpcclient in 2.2.1a, and it appears that a solution for installing printer drivers on my Samba server may be in-hand. I am furiously reading man rpcclient and experimenting and with any luck, this will bear fruit. I have to date been unable to use the NT Add Printer Wizard to upload drivers and I believe the reason is that in our particular

Will rpcclient ever get better?
I was wondering if anyone has heard of someone trying to improve on rpcclient, specifically regarding the printer-related commands. Also, it seems that rpcclient has trouble returning a large list of printers (enumprinters), like in the range of 200. Has anyone heard about this? Thanks in advance for replies :-) Thomas Klopf MMS - Gulf Region (ACS-GS contractor) -------------- next part

Hi, I am trying to prepare downloadable printer drivers for Windows-Clients with Samba 3.0.0-final. Everything worked fine so far. But I found no way to add the printer driver files to the samba database. The method using the Add Printer Wizard in W2k did not work for me. cupsaddsmb -v, Warning: PPD file not found?!
Hello all, I am running a Debian testing/unstable system with samba 2.2.3a-6 and cupsys 1.1.15-4 as a member server in a samba domain. I have used CUPS to add a networked HP8100N printer and it works fine locally, but I'm having difficulty adding it to samba for Win98 domain clients to use. I ran cupsaddsmb to add the printer and drivers to samba, but it cannot find the PPD file... where is
