Accessing Samba share over the Internet
Hi, I want to connect to a share on a Samba server over the Internet. I have the Samba server installed and working OK (for NT clients at least) but when I connect from my NT workstation over the Internet I get 'Invalid Handle' dialogs when I try to map a network drive. I think it should be OK but one major difference is the remote NT workstation is not a member of the domain in which

Hello Family, (smd.conf file attached) Having had great success with 2.2.2 and my Linux box and Windows-2000 machines I switched to CUPS and now can't print again having made some slight edits in my smb.conf file (attached) for the change to CUPS. [1] I have to reloaded all the Windows drivers again on the Windows-2000 machines and still get the "Startdoc..." error. [2] The

Passwords fail from Win95 but not from DOS (Samba 1.9.16p11/NetBSD)
Hi, I'm having some problems with Samba 1.9.16p11 on a Sun3/60 running NetBSD 1.2. I have a Win95 client and a couple of DOS clients on a single ethernet segment (it's at home :-). I've set up a simple configuration, intention was just to serve files from the Sun to the PC's. Everything works perfectly except authentication from the Win95 client. I can connect to the Samba shares

Problems with CUPS and a networked epson printer
I have an Epson Stylus Color 880, connected to our network via an external ethernet printserver. I used to run lprng on the samba server (which is a domain controller), and the Windows clients had one minor problem accessing this printer via Samba (2.2.3a, then): Every time a client wanted to print, the Epson status monitor on the client would complain about communication problems with the

Samba 3.0.1: Problems with downloading printer driver
Hi, I've a problem with Samba 3.0.1: printing with cups works fine when I install the driver on windows (2000/NT) manual. But setting up a print$ share for downloading the drivers on the fly doesn't work. I installed the drivers with cupsaddsmb, which seems to work fine. No error is shown (even with -v). When I try to install the driver on windows it says that the server hasn't any

W2k/w98 don't see printers on samba-3.0.0beta2/3 in "Add Printer" dialogue

Problem installing printer drivers in Samba
Hi, After using the client driver for a long time, I want to give a try to the drivers installed on Samba server. I am using the how-to at http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/classicalprinting.html It goes fine up to "installing drivers into [print$] using APW". I can see a list of drivers files growing into W32X86. But when I try to access the properties of a

one printer doesn't print under samba
I have a problem I hope someone can help with. I have TLS 6.0 set up to provide print services to Win98 clients using samba. There are two printers, an HP LaserJet 4050 and an HP DeskJet 950C, both attached to separate JetDirect 170 print servers. The HP4050 works wonderfully, no problems at all. The 950C doesn't work. The printer is available when browsing and can be installed on the

Spool queue issue winxp and samba-3.0.x
Hai, Lately I am encountering a weird issue with spool queue under winxp and samba+cups. It seems winxp puts all the information of printjobs spooled to a given printer exported with samba in its local printer spool queue of that printer (allso of other users in the domain) and never marks them as done/expired . After a certain amount of time there are so many jobs in the queue the workstation

Can't print properly through server, only direct client->printer
We are having great problems printing from XP clients through our Samba server. We are using the Adobe PS driver, and are configured for automatic driver download/install from the server. Samba is 2.2.8a and part of a Suse OpenExchange server, printing is through CUPS. Printers are an assortment of different makes of Postscript (and compatible) lasers. Basically, we have 'wierd'

Network printing HP 843C over Samba
Hay all. I've been setting up a linux gateway with an ADSL connection and three windows boxes in a home network. Everything has gone smoothly with Red Hat 9 and data transfer rates have risen due to having a linux gateway instead of an Windows XP gateway. However, I've had horrible problems setting up network printing. I've got Samba set up and that is working fine with various

Samba won't allow PC connections
Hello list, I am at the hair pulling stage of this game right now. Having read through many of the posts, I still seem to be unable to get my samba server to allow anonymous connections ( or any connections for that matter ) from windows machines. All I want to do is have printers and one folder shared, all as guest accessable. I have made the security level = share and made the shares

printing between two networks
Hi, in my network are two locally subnets. Now I want to print from one subnet (loc_110) to the other subnet (loc) where a printer server (192.168.111.5) is working. My printer server is from the d-link company. First in "/var/log/messages" was an entry that there was dropped traffic from source 192.168.110.x port 721 to 192.168.111.5 port 515. Ok, now I''ve created a rule,
