Configuring Swat Revisited
Okay, here's what you need to do. You have to configure apache. This won't
be too hard. You will need to edit the httpd.conf located in
/etc/httpd/conf directory. Look through the httpd.conf file until you find
this line:
#Servername localhost
It may or may not have the # in front of it. You need to edit this line and
make it say:
Servername yourservernamegoeshere

Can ping computers in another network, but can't see samba
Hi. We have a successful samba server up and running on our local network.
We also have a connection via a 3Com ATM router to another network. I can
ping computers on that network, and they can ping the samba server. In
network neighborhood I can see their computers. They also see our
Win9x/NT/2K systems under their network neighborhood, but they don't see the
samba server. If I try

Hello All Samba-list Members,
I have installed a Samba 2.2.7, the samba-latest.tar.gz, as a PDC on a
Redhat8.0 GNU/Linux server. ( Of course, I first uninstalled the original
samba that came with the Redhat installation CDs by rpm -e samba*.) The
installation was successful. Then I modified /etc/services and
/etc/xinetd.d/swat as suggested in the installation document uncompressed

G'day....
Simple solution...
Uninstall samba/swat packages... Reinstall... test.
swat should work "right out of the box" ...
All the best...

swat on red hat 7.2
Hi,
I'm having a minor issue with swat on red hat 7.2. It won't let me make
any changes to the samba server (adding shares, printers, and global
definitions). The buttons to access these simply don't exist. I can view
status, but I can't make any changes (not even restart the daemons).
This works fine on my Debian system. The only real difference that I can
think of is inetd

Trouble with root password in SWAT
I have been kind of fortunate in adjusting my SWAT information, and now
can reach the SWAT3 interface through port 902 (thanks!), but now I have
an even more interesting snag.
Konqueror and Mozilla, when going to localhost:902 (what I set SWAT3 to
respond to), will prompt a login box. The site is called "SWAT at
localhost". I put in the root username, and the root password. It then
