Tektronix 640 Plus Color Printer
I am running samba 2.0.6 under Linux and currently have around 2 dozen network printers that generally work fine served on samba. They are four differrent flavors of HP Lasers and I have the drivers on the server, everything's great-UNTIL...... We get a Tektronix color printer (Phaser 640 Plus). It's networking fine, actually prints fine, except only in Black and there is some

ACLs with samba
Hi- I am experiencing some odd behavior with ACLs with winbindd using Samba 2.6 on Debian Woody (kernel version 2.4.18). 1. I am unable to alter permissions from Win2K clients using the Properties->Security interface. Is this normal? I get the "Unable to save Permission Changes on new Folder. Access is denied." message. This occurs with all accounts, both privileged and

CUPS permissions issues
Hello- I am running Debian Woody, Samba 2.2.7, and Cups 1.1.14-3. I can print as any local Linux client, but there is a permissions issue when I try to print from Windows 2000. My spool directory is /var/spool/cups, the permissions are set 700 to user lp and group sys. If I chmod the directory to 777, printing works fine, but when I restart cupsd, the permissions revert back to 700. I am running

Passing domain name to PPP
Hi- Our PPP RAS server is running Samba 2.2.8a and winbind. We want to authenticate dialup users through the PDC (Win NT 4 SP6). However, in order to do so, the dommainname needs to be prepended to the username, ie, DOMAIN+USERNAME. We don't want to have to teach all our dialup users to add the domainname when they login to RAS, so we are looking for a way to script this. Has anyone tweaked

samba and SMP
I've now tried 2.0.6pre2 with a SuperMicro P6DNF dual PPro as well as the Everex StepDP/Pro dual PPro MB; same result, large (more than 1 MB) file copies usually crash with only a message about oplock errors in the logfile. Running a single CPU kernel works fine (pre2 seems much faster, but I haven't done any testing). 2.0.5a does the same. NFS and mars_nwe with the same hardware and

problem with smbmount
Hello all. I've a <BIG> problem with smbmount. I use samba 2.0.5a on a linux slackware 4.0 (kernel 2.2.6) machine and a WinNT Server 4.0 (sp3, sp4, sp5...). When I mount a WinNT share (i.e. test) with command "smbmount //winntserver/test /mnt" I see a complete confusion on the file(s) date in /mnt directory. I read dates from 1900 since 2100. If I "touch" to create

some win machines see samba, some not.
Hello, I have this big problem which bothers me for past week(s). I have setup a simple samba network on win95 only net and it worked fine. This time I try to setup a samba on a network having win98 WinNT 4.0 sp4 and WinNT4.0 WS SP 5. I believe all machines are on the same local net. I have tried both samba 2.0.5a (RH6.1 default) as well as samba 2.0.7. I can use 'smbclient'

APIC error on Intel Atom CPU, CentOS 5.x
I am seeing ``APIC error on CPU3: 60(60)'' warnings from dmesg periodically on a CentOS 5.4 box, kernel 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5. The CPU is an Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU 330 @ 1.60GHz. I am not a hardware type, and don't have a clue what this means. This is occurring while an rsync-3.0.4 process is receiving data sent by a machine running rsync-3.0.7 (I just updated the CentOS box to

2.2.3a printing problems: no printing from Word, spools taking up all CPU on clients
I'm running Samba-2.2.3a plus the printer defaults patch (samba-2.2.3a-5mdk rpm) on a Linux 2.4.(Mandrake 8.X). This server has been upgraded from 2.2.3, from 2.2.2, which was upgraded from 2.2.1. Everything was working with the same printer configuration at version 2.2.2 and 2.2.1 (although I have moved the WINS server from a new machine since then). The server is a PDC/WINS server, and

Yet another case preservation question.
Hello all, I'm having a curious case preservation problem. When I searched the archives, I found similar questions asked before, but was unable to find an answer that does the trick. In my case, I have two samba servers. The first is still running version 1.9.17p3 the second is using 2.0.5a. Both servers are on HP-UX 10.20 workstations. The client software we are having a problem with

pam_smb authentication
I am appending some documentation by my colleague Bill Eldridge that was actually written for our dial-up service, but should work for you purposes as well. A couple notes. 1.)The user must exist in /etc/passwd on the Samba machine or login to the Samba box will fail. 2.)In the example, we don't set up home directories for the users, we are using it for dial in and they usually want to

samba setup.exe rant part 2
this was previously posted only on samba-ntdom, but that was probably not the right list so i'm cross-posting to both samba and samba-ntdom. here's the problem: on NT4 w/ SP4 or SP5, self-extracting 16-bit install files work just fine in directories w/ Long File Names. on SAMBA 2.0.5a, i can get none of the aforementioned files to install from directories w/ Long File Names. a good

No, DON'T use mpg321, it will not work. Make sure you're using mpg123. NULL filled corrupt files
Hello! I've seen, some people experienced this problem earlyer, but I have not found any solution in the mailing lists... So the problem is, copying files from an NT Workstation (SP5 ) on a Samba server running under Linux (2.0.10) in some (rare) cases results in files exactly of the right size but filled with NULL bytes. I'm using samba 2.0.5a and likely since version 2.0.0 this

Probable Numeric Bugs in svd function (PR#8781)
Hello,=0D =0D I just noticed that the "svd" function does not work properly for some=0D sparse matrices.=0D When I replace the 0 by very small noises (let's say 10^-16), it then=0D works.=0D The test I've performed is to compared the singular values to the eigen=0D values (as I work with squarred matrices).=0D =0D Here is the code (I may be wrong!):=0D =0D
