lp_servicenumber: couldn't find printers
Hi: I first installed samba (Version 2.0.7) on an AIX 4.3 system about 3 years ago. Yesterday the original system crashed, and I am now trying to get it going on another AIX system. To the best of my knowledege smb.conf, along with all the samba binaries have not changed, i.e. they are from the backup of the crashed system. On the new system, when the smbd and nmbd daemons are started, they

printcap = coredump
First off, I'm upgrading my school's version of samba, they have 941 printers listed in the printcap file. The old version of samba works. When I run "smbd -D", it waits a few seconds then replies "IOT trap (core dumped)." gdb has errors tracing through it. Here is a snip from log.smb (the only log file I get) at level 10 logging (plus some extra debug statements I

RE: samba smbd version 2.2.12 HP CIFS Server A.01.11.04 does hang if start in a HP serviceguard configuration
Hi Wolfgang, from your tusc trace, what's happening is that smbd is hanging on a lock call on the secrets.tdb. Chances are good that either rpc.lockd is not running, or out of sync, etc; I can force this to happen, pretty much the exact same trace, by killing my lockd daemon on the system where I am running samba before I try to start it up. locking problems over nfs is one good reason that

Printing problem
Hi, I ran into a strange printing-problem: We're using OpenBSD 4.2 and Samba Version 3.0.28 and include our printers directly from /etc/printcap; whenever I enter a printername that contains numbers, smbd gives me the errors below. Any idea why samba messes up with digits in printernames? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- /var/log/log.smbd

Problems with printing=plp
Hello, i've some problems with the plp printer spooler on linux: I changed from bsd printing to plp printing. Previously (with bsd style printing) i was able to browse and delete active printjobs, stop and activate printers from within the win9x/winnt boxes. After changing to plp this is no longer possible. The printjobs themself are still printed. Some output in the log.smb (with debug

Intermittent failures mapping drives.. need debugging help/sugges tions
There is a problem with a user mapping a network drive. Sometimes he can map it, sometimes he can't. SAMBA: 3.0-alpha18 UNIX: HP-UX 11.0 rsc is a valid account on the machine he's trying to connect to (entry in /etc/passwd, decent permissions on home directory and all parent directories, etc.) The strange thing is sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. EMERGENCY: User profile for Win98 domain logon lost after upgrade to Oct 5 CVS code
Hello all, I'm in very big big trouble here. In an attempt to enable domain logon for NT workstations as well, I fetched the CVS code on Oct 5, 98. I successful built it with no error. I copied the smb.conf from a workable Sambav1.9.18p8 to the Samba2.0alpha. Then I started the smbd and nmbd of Samba2.0alpha. I rebooted one of the Windows 98 (which used to be working happily with

I'm trying to start smbd (samba 3.0.22) as daemon (smbd -D --configfile=/etc/smb.conf) on solaris 9 sparc with current recommended patches but the smbd process never returns from trying to become a daemon. Samba was built with ldap, (heimdal) kerberos and active directory support using gcc 3.3.2 from sunfreeware. Solaris 9 is a new install on a development machine with production patches.

net getlocalsid problem
Hi I decided after some testing and experimenting, to move the production servers from 2.2.x to 3.0. so I've installed samba3.0 in paralel with the old binaries. To start the migration I wanted to save the old domain SID, to can make the migration as transparent as possible, so I did: net3 -d 10 -I 127.0.0.1 getlocalsid while the old binaries are still runing all that I've got
