Help needed using Samba over SSH (DOS works, Win9x doesn't)
Hi all, I've been trying to mount partitions on a UNIX machine behind a firewall on a Windows machine. This works fine inside the firewall, but from outside I need to tunnel through it using SSH. I can get this to work from a DOS window on the Windows machine by forwarding port 139, but when I try to access a file from the GUI, I get a "bad directory" error on windows. An

TTSSH and the SSH trademark
Hi everyone. I want to point out some facts about TTSSH that may be relevant to the claims of trademark infringement by OpenSSH. I'll confine my opinions to another message :-). I released my product, which has always been named "Teraterm SSH" and is usually abbreviated to "TTSSH", to the public in May 1998. TTSSH is a free software Windows client for the SSH1 protocol.

More on TTSSH and the SSH trademark
I would also like to mention that when I released TTSSH in May 1998, I had no concerns about violating any trademarks because I observed that the name "SSH" was already being used by several different parties for different purposes --- as the name of Ylonen's original SSH package and its derivatives, as the name of the protocol, and as a component of names of other implementations

Re: Win9x login script drive mapping problem - more info
Many thanks to those who have replied so far - still no luck unfortunately. It would appear that I was ni=ot quite specific enough in the original post re: the OS version I am using - it is Windows 98SE, NOT vanilla 98. As for the login script I am using, I tried originally with the NT/2K script I use for all the other machines (logical as they are all NT/2K!): #### Script starts here ####

Access across routers
Greetings, I have an interesting situation where SAMBA servers that are across various routers are requiring the fully qualified domain name. Example: \\xyx.nrl.navy.mil. If our SAMBA server is local (behind the same router as our client), then the \\xyx name will work fine.... This allows you to connect, but if you are browsing the network neighborhood, and you double click on the \\xyx when

Intermittent port forwarding problems openssh 2.9.2p and up
Hi, I have configured ssh for port forwarding local 8080 to out company web proxy server. # ssh -L 8080:proxy:8080 myname at ssh-host I've tried the configuration by using # telnet localhost 8080 and it works fine. But whenever I try to use it with any http browser, it just fails. I investigated the problem with Ethereal and I've noticed that packets travel on loopback interface,

Samba-related info on disconnected NT networkshares
The issue of disconnected networkshares (shares offered on an NT server) has appeared on this mailinglist a few times. It is not a samba issue, but it seems many here might benefit from the information given below anyways, as I've never seen a solution to the problem come by. Problem: Whenever there has not been any activity (file/network IO) to or from a networkshare that is offered by an

User list problem on Win9x.
I'm a bit confused about user enumeration on Win9x boxes. I've got a couple of machines running SaMBa. One (M2Dual) is running 2.0.7 with security = domain and domain server = M2Hub. The other (M2Hub) is running 2.2.3a with security = user. I also have three Win9x machines. All have user level security turned on. Roving profiles work on all machines and all users. Logon scripts run

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear List, Few days ago I've posted, that my Win9x boxes are unable to get the list of domain users and groups from samba-3.0.0 server (for details see bug 596). Unfortunately the same is true for samba-3.0.1pre1. Please people also having win9x boxes and Samba3 PDC confirm that it is a bug, or a configuration error. Thanks for any suggestion.

Win9x via Kix unable to get extended user attributes
Hi all, In trying to upgrade Samba here, I have built various versions from 3.0.11 to 3.0.14a using various versions of gcc and the Sun compiler (this is on Solaris SPARC) and had the following problem in all cases. Running the built samba as a logon server, I find that WinXP clients work fine but Win9X clients have some difficulties. The problem is that the Win9X logon script can't

Creating a file by ssh
Hello I have this problem. I don't know if it's really a problem or just a misconfiguration of ssh. It gives me no error it copies the file but when I go to see it on the remote server (openSuse 10.2) i got this new file "qualit?"

2.2.3a - buggy homedir mapping with profiles for 9x/winxp
Hi @all, I'm using version 2.2.3a (because the patch for printingproblems in 2.2.4 is not working for me) as a PDC for Win9x- and WinXP-Clients. I want to set up different profile directories for Win9x and WinXP. This seemed not a problem with logon home = \\%N\%U\profile_9x_me logon path = \\%N\%U\profile_nt_xp I have a client with Win98 and WinXP on it. If I log on first with WinXP and
