Samba High Availability
We're using Samba, and it's working very well, however I'm interested in finding out what approaches would work for having some sort of redundancies in place in case the main server crashes. Is there anything in place for Samba in order to have some sort of backup in place in case the main server crashes. The reason is that the server is critical to the company's business, and

how do I not use smbpasswd?
All, I am in a mixed NT/UNIX/Novell environment and got the buy-off to go full SAMBA for our corporate fileserver (400 clients, 95 and NT). I got a few Sun UE450s and A5100 arrays and am going to cluster them with Veritas. I have samba working with home directories for all clients, but had to dump the passwords from the PDC into the smbpasswd file in order to do it. Sometimes it takes an

Hello. Has this been tried by anybody? I would appreciate any practical feedback on a setup where Dovecot was clustered with Veritas software. Best regards, Dmitrij Malakhov

Report on openssh-1.2.1pre26.tar.gz
Dear developers, I tried to make openssh-1.2.1pre26 on my Linux box with kernel 2.2.13 and libc 5.4.46. First I needed to modify the file "fake-getaddrinfo.h" as attached diff. Then I tried again, and gave up with the error: gcc -g -O2 -Wall -I/usr/local/ssl/include \ -DETCDIR=\"/usr/local/openssh/etc\" \ -DSSH_PROGRAM=\"/usr/local/openssh/bin/ssh\" \

Little graph questions!
I'm working up a set of small working examples in R to show what various distributions are and the beauty of the central limit theorem. Those example programs are in this directory: http://lark.cc.ukans.edu/~pauljohn/R/ExampleCode/ You can feel free to use those if you want, or you can send me other small working example code for R. The key here is small, self contained things that

Rejoining domain after cluster failover
Hello. We're having issues running Samba 2.2.8-a1, on Solaris 8 (SPARC) under Veritas VCS 3.5 clustering (HA active-passive). Every time we have a cluster failover (we're testing), we have to re-join the domain [ADS not NT] (e.g., 'smbpasswd -j XYZ -r XYZPDC -UAdminRightsUser%password'). Otherwise, we cannot connect to the shares, and 'wbinfo -t' returns 'Secret is

dotplot & lattice problems: y axis values and bg color output in jpg
I have a linux system with Fedora Core 2 and R-2.0. I was comparing plots made with plot() and dotplot() and discovered a problem. Although the dots are positioned correctly, the numerical labels in the dotplot y axis are not correct. I put copies here: http://lark.cc.ku.edu/~pauljohn/R/plotTrouble1.jpg That is the "correct" one from plot, with the higest value on y showing at 18.

Load balancing Samba print servers on Solaris 8...is is possible?
I'll try to keep this short, but feel free to ask for more info if needed. Basically, we were given two Sun V480 servers and told to make high availability windows print servers to replace our current config of two windows 2000 clusters (4 Windows 2000 server nodes, 2 in each cluster, configured "active/active"). Solaris 8 was installed (and preferred over Solaris 9 in our

Trying to make plot of several time series in same graph
Dear Friends in R: On RedHat linux, R-1.1, I've gotten far enough to create the graph that shows on the screen with 3 lines, but I have some trouble. Here is the way I created the three "overlaid" graphs: data<-read.table("DataCulture0",header=T,as.is = TRUE) attach(data) tmp1<-plot(acquaint~T,type='l', ylim=c(0,1),ylab="average

samba sessions dying - NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER
Dear samba users & developers, I was hoping to seek some assistance on a problem I?ve been investigating for a number of weeks now. A brief summary would be that we have a number of Windows servers accessing UNC paths. In turn, these servers intermittently lose their ability to access the UNC paths. When this happens, restarting the application (IIS6 / 7) on the affected windows webserver

dev.copy2eps: Why did the colors come into my postscript output?
On a RedHat 7.3 system with R-1.6.1, I did this > x11(width=3.5,height=4,colortype="gray") Then plotted (with matplot) a nice looking no-color graph on the screen, then I did this: > dev.copy2eps(file="test.eps",height=4,width=3.5) I was surprised that the output in the eps file included the colored lines from the plot, even though the screen device was set to

group membership + acl
During the last two years our fileserver was a VERITAS Samba-2.0.10-VRTS server. This Veritas version of samba contains a special ACL component for the uid <-> sid and gid <-> sid mapping. It also transparently converts Windows access rights to Unix access rights and vice versa. The recent changes in the Windows mbx driver forced us to move to Samba3. The uid mapping works without

Can samba hide symlinks?
I am using samba to pull a backup of my linux host over the network so I made the following share: [backup] comment = share for veritas path = / valid users = root read only = yes dont descend = proc dev mnt lost+found sys follow symlinks = no hide unreadable = yes The root user is mapped to administrator and the samba host is on the domain, so the windows box logs on and pulls

Hi Kotresh, I am expecting my hardware to show up next week. My plan is to run gluster version 3.12 on centos 7. Has the issue been fixed in version 3.12?
