WG: parsing fix for spoolss & samba-2.2.5
I can only confirm, that the bug still there (since version 2.2.3). I also have exactly the same problem. With samba version 2.2.2 was OK. I will be fantastic, if someone can help to fix it. Thanks! AW: duplex settings [ was Re: parsing fix for spoolss & s amba-2.2.5]
Hi Jerry, It seems that the "samba-2.2.5-printing.patch" has only fixed the problem for PCL drivers. With PS drivers (Laserjet 4050 PS) are the duplex & tray settings still missing. nmbd strangeness with 2.0.6
Hi all, I finally upgrded Samba to 2.0.6 last night. After doing so, I have observed some strange behaviour. First of all, although domain master, local master and preferred master are all set to true, the server running samba fails to become the local master browser on one subnet (succeeds on another subnet though). The messages from the log file are as follows: [2000/03/16 22:08:50, 0]

Samba 2.2.5 printing problems
Hi all, I'm having problems getting SPOOLSS support working correctly. (Samba 2.2.5 on FreeBSD 4.5.) Often when viewing settings on the shared printers, I get a wonderful 'illegal operation' error in either explorer.exe or spoolsvs.exe (many things seem to trigger this error - especially attempting to select additional drivers). Secondly, when things don't crash, I am able to

Windows Policies and Samba 2.0.4b - More information
Hello all, I wrote yesterday about problems with Windows policies and Samba 2.0.4b yesterday. Since then, I've had someone ask for a more detailed explanation, so here it is. Samba currently provides domain logons for a number Windows 95 and 98 clients (as well as the standard file serving). The domain logon currently succeeds, a user's username and password is accepted and the client

Documentation updates...
Hi all, Just a couple of suggestions for documentation updates. First of all, perhaps you should include the following about Windows XP and slow logons/long delays in opening files: Windows XP and slow network logons/long delays in opening files =============================================================== Windows XP includes a WebDav client that attempts to open shares via HTTP. Home directory problems
I have recently set a logon path = xxxx statement in my smb.conf file (this is for profiles, since it is recommended not to store profile info in the homes share). Since doing this, NET USE H: /HOME now mounts the profile directory as the home directory. I have tried setting logon home = \\%L\%U, but it doesn't seem to work. (and logon home = "\\%L\%U"). Does anyone have any

winpopup
Hi, I have a linux (redhat 6.0) print server and I am running samba 2.0.3-8 serving win95 machines. I would like the print server to send a message to the win95 when a print job is completed. To do that, I run winpopup on win95. However, if win95 users close winpopup, they do not receive any message. Is there any more realiable method to communicate with win95 machines? I would appreciate any

Winpopup help - will pay
Before I start I should say that I will pay $2000US to get the information or code I seek. I need code or protocol specs to be able to send winpopup messages. It cannot be done via mail slots because it has to work over the internet at large. If you type in "net send x.x.x.x hello" on any windows nt or xp machines it will send a winpopup using UDP ports 137 and then 135 (also 1031 and

Samba Internet Proxy Access Problem
Hi, guys! I am using internet via a proxy. When samba is not running, there is no problem, but when I start samba, there is no internet (although there is a ping to the proxy) and whenever I try to open a site, the message "Unauthorized..." appears in the browser. I am currently using Slackware 10.1, kernel 2.4, samba version 3.0.7 (but it was the same on Gentoo. Surprisingly, samba

Wanted: Unix Winpopup receiver program.
I want to use smbclient -M to send new mail notification to unix users. I have some of our workstations running smbd from inetd and am using the "message command" option quite successfully. What I was wondering is, has someone implemented the winpopup reception end in a form that would be more efficient than using full blown smbd? Am I making myself clear? Perhaps if someone could

rpcclient-style call for windows messenger service ("WinPopup")?
Can Samba be used to generated WinPopUp RPC calls on TCP port 135? I am familiar with using the "smbclient -M" command to send messages using the Win Popup protocol, otherwise known as Windows Messenger Service, or what a Microsoft user does from a DOS prompt as a "net send" command. WinPopup can be generated either via Microsoft file sharing protocols, using the

print job complete messages
I know I've read something about this in the distant past, but i can't seem to find any info on it now. I'm hoping someone knows offhand... I'm using samba 2.2.8a and cups 1.1.17 to serve printing to some windows 2000 workstations. Cups is set up with raw queues and I'm using the windows drivers available from HP. When the clients print from the windows print server,

Problem with IIS and Samba 2.04b
Hello, I recently upgraded from samba 1.9.18 to 2.04b and now have a strange problem. My setup: - Linux 2.2.7 with samba 2.04b (not domain controller) - NT 4sp3 (domain controler) with IIS 4 From the NT I can browse shares on the Linux server without any problem, everything works as exepected. Some virtual hosts on the IIS server are configured to use a directory on the Samba server as their

pre2.0.7 disk quota bug:
Since an 'over-quota' or 'disk-full' message is being sent from Samba to the client, it seems obvious that the client _should_ be passing this info. on to the user -- but it isn't. One possible way to get this info. to the client is for Samba to call a shell script similar to the 'preexec' options if quota is exceeded. The script could then invoke smbclient to send a
