BUG + FIX in smbprint
Dear Samba Team, the smbprint script as provided with Suse7.2 for Samba Version 2.2.0 did not work. The problem was that the file to be printed was not transfered via stdin after the print - command. I changed the smbprint script to pass the commands via the -c option. My changes and comments are marked with MR27092001MR in the smbprint attached. I did not find this in the lists, so I hope this

Samba Printing to Win98
I am trying to allow printing from my linux box to my win98 box, to which my epson stylus printer is attached. It's just not happening...something tells me I'm flirting with a world of pain. I *can* print a file by going: smbclient //rory/EPSON translate print /etc/group but I cannot print from applications, nor can i use smbprint. I tried going: cat /etc/passwd | sh -x smbprint

smbprint
While trying to configure my *nix box to print to windows, I discovered my samba build does not have the smbprint utility. I saw no option in the configure/make script to build with the smprint utility. Is there an option that will build this tool? Thanks! Custom smbprint script for testing
Hello there, I've produced a modified version of the smbprint script that comes with the samba source. The script is aimed to retry sending the print job if the windows machine is switched off at the time of printing (samba seems to just drop the print job after a period of time if the machine is off). This script will mail you to tell you the machine isn't turned on yet and if you

smbprint(ing) to a HP 3100??
I work in a lab were the only "printer" we have is an HP 3100 (printer/fax/scanner) item. This printer is hung off a Windows98 box and I want to be able to print to it from my linux box using smbprint. I can connect to the share that represents this printer: smbclient \\\\server\\printer "" -N and I get the SMB> prompt which (I think) is pretty useless for printers.

Help with smbprint.sysv
Hi, Does anyone happen to know a good document about SMBPRINT.SYSV ? I am trying to make my SGi IRIX 6.2 print to a PC Printer via SMB, unsucessfully. I followed the smbprint and lp (sysv) docs in Samba 2.0.7 but, I guess, something is missing, I can not print to that remote printer. I think I do not need a printcap file since it is using lp. But nothing happens and I get e-mail from spooler:

smbprint & .config
I seem to have some issues coming to terms with the new smbprint configuration. Not that it is all that new, but I have worked on a ton of AIX Samba systems that are runing 1.9.x and the smbprint worked great in all aspects. The box's couldn't be upgraded (or so said the company that did application builds related to Samba). The printers were and are hosted from windows95 workstations

Pbs with smbprint, password and windows shared printer..
Hi all! At my university, we use for compatibility reasons a windows shared printer running samba server. The main thing is that I can't get smbprint to send pages to the printer. And, more amazing, I get this message: "Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds...ERROR: Connection failed with error NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD" only when I give the GOOD password! :-/

Printing via smbprint to a WinPrinter
Hi all. I would like to print from a Linux Server to a printer connected to a Windows ME machine. I'm able to connect via smbclient, with smbclient //windowsme/printer -U '' -N and I receive the smb> prompt Now, when I try to print any file, nothing comes out from the printer. The printer is a Canon LBP-810 which, according to www.linuxprinting.org site, is a WinPrinter. My

smbprint to Win XP
My server is running Centos 4. The printer is attached to a Win XP machine. Print service is CUPS. Samba version is 3.0.10. I can use smbclient to connect to the printer and successfully print. I have set the printer up with exactly the same settings as I am using with smbclient. When I use lpr to print nothing prints and when I do an lpstat I get the message: Connection failed with error

Linux and Printing via smbprint
Hi there Looking at the archives I didn't find a solution to the following problem we have here: Printing from our linux-server (wagner) to an intel printserver (PS652D8F) doesn't work.
