how to setup a simplest travel-mode read-only IMAP
Hi All,
I don't use gmail/hotmail etc...
I have been a Mozilla/SeaMonkey/Thunderbird user for ever now...
The mail and folders are all on my private fileserver.
But on certain tours, I do know in advance that I would like IMAP access
to my mail folders.
Nothing but the simplest read-only access to the years of accumulated email.
(All that email was soft-mounted onto /mnt/mail for safety and

Problem about SARMA model forcasting
Hello, Guys:
I'm from China, my English is poor and I'm new to R. The first message I sent to R help meets some problems, so I send again.
Hope that I can get useful suggestions from you warm-hearted guys.
Thanks.
I builded a multiplicative seasonal ARMA model to a series named "cDownRange".
And the order is (1,1)*(0,1)45
The regular AR=1; regular MA=1; seasonal AR=0; seasonal

Post-Win2k3 Upgrade rsync+ssh Permissions Problem
Hi all. OK, so I have a mostly Solaris infrastructure with a group of
Windows 2000 server boxes. I installed Cygwin rsync/ssh on them and have
been using it to keep Web images up to date by pushing them from a central
server thus:
/usr/local/bin/rsync -e ssh -vrtz --delete
--rsync-path=c:/cygwin/bin/rsync.exe /webnfs/webfiles/images/
winserver:d:/webfiles/images
This sync runs as the UNIX user

Randomly select elements based on criteria
Hi,
I want to randomly pick 2 fish born the same day but I need those
individuals to be from different families. My table includes 1787 fish
distributed in 948 families. An example of a subset of fish born in one
specific day would look like:

form date helper with text year
I have a date where the year range is more then I want to define in a
select_date scaffold generated year range.
My idea was to have the year entered as a text field and the month and
day using something like:
<%= select_month @person.born,:prefix => :person ,:field_name =>
"born(2i)" %>
<%= select_day @person.born,:prefix => :person , :field_name =>

Some client problems with TCP-only NFS in Gluster 3.1
I see that the built-in NFS support registers mountd in portmap only with
tcp and not udp. While this makes sense for a TCP-only NFS
implementation, it does cause problems for some clients:
Ubuntu 10.04 and 7.04 mount just fine.
Ubuntu 8.04 gives "requested NFS version or transport protocol is not
supported", unless you specify "-o mountproto=tcp" as a mount option, in

machine name lookups
We have been looking for a way to notify our users when they
are running low on disk quota, without sending them mail.
WinPopup actually seemed like the best way, so my partner
began looking at feeding quota output into smbclient -M
when quota was getting tight.
The only problem is that smbclient -M frequently fails to find
the client's host name. The -I parameter will often fix it, but

[Fwd: Re: subsetting]
Sorry that I was unclear. For an individual to qualify for my analysis I
want both of the following two criteria to be fulfilled:
First, I want to select measurement taken at a certain age: for the
focal individual the year of measurement (year) should be the same as
year.hatch
Second, I want the focal individual to be born by a mother that
reproduces for the first time.
So the /parents /of

LLD performance w.r.t. local symbols (and --build-id)
Slowdown by "[ELF] - Early continue in InputSectionBase<ELFT>::relocate(). NFC.?" looks wierd for me. I do not see any reasons for any impact on perfomance by this change.
Good news is that since it was NFC it can easily be reverted. But I think slowdown in results is unrelative with that change and reverting will not give us 2-3% boost back.
Best regards,
George.

robust standard errors for panel data - corrigendum
Hello again Max. A correction to my response from yesterday. Things were better than they seemed.
I thought it over, checked Arellano's panel book and Driscoll and Kraay (Rev. Econ. Stud. 1998) and finally realized that vcovSCC does what you want: in fact, despite being born primarily for dealing with cross-sectional correlation, 'SCC' standard errors are robust to "both

Poor pop3 over nfs performance
Hi,
About a week ago I upgraded our reasonably heavily loaded mail servers
from a pretty recent courier version to dovecot-1.1rc10. IMAP
performance on dovecot is amazing, however POP3 performance is worse
than courier :-( I have uploaded some munin graphs taken today to
http://linweb.atlas.pipex.net/dovecot/; the dovecot server is handling
about 2000 pop logins/sec and 300 imap sessions (but

Kernel Panic - possibly NFS related?
Hi Folks,
This is my first post here, and unfortunately it's to ask for help in
figuring out a kernel panic I am running into.
The machine in question has run fine without problem for quite some
time, running as a database/web server. It has an identical (hardware)
twin that performs essentially the same functions, but which has not had
any kernel panics.
The only recent change I've

Printer driver downloads...?
I've been googling around for quite some time, and haven't managed to find
anything useful. Is there some moderately up-to-date information on how
to set up the automatic print-driver download in Samba 2.2.x? I know about
the "old way" of doing things, but it doesn't seem to fly with Win2K drivers.
Any and all help, and pointers to FD so I can RTFD (again, haven't had

WIN 98 password problem
Hi!
I'm new on the list, so please, be patient with me!
I have a problem for wich I can't find the answer in the FAQ. Until
recently I was running a 16 PC-s network with SCO OpenServer 5.0.4 and
Samba 1.9.16p11 on the server and mixed clients (Win 3.11 to Win 95
OSR2). The users on the network have access to a PUBLIC directory on
they own user directories on the server without

Win98 & Samba
I had win95 and things were really nice with an old version of Samba.
But I was forced to upgrade to Win98 for reasons that are outside the
topic of this digest.
I can CREATE / DELETE directories with Capital letters, but cannot touch
any with mixed case or lower case.
Please note that we are dealing with directories ALREADY on linux, which
are being server to Win98 client.
Also, all files with
