Count objects and print it into a new variable
Hello, I used R a year ago. With the data I am working with now, I realized that I need to go back to R. Unfortunately, my memory is not my friend if it comes down to coding :-) What I want to do is extract the length of a variable of a file with certain conditions and then print this number in a new variable.. My file (yukon), contains information about fires in the Yukon Territory, and it

performance problem. big amount of net traffic for file properties
Hi, We're having performance problems with some workstations (XP workstations). The problem we diagnosed occurs when a user right clicks on a UNC link (on his desktop). The popup window only appears after 80 seconds. On another XP workstation (in the same room, same switch ...), it works OK. We have dumped the network traffic from both these workstations, and the result is that from the

Last night, I upgraded one of my rails apps to 1.1. This app uses Markaby exclusively for its'' views, and once I checked out the latest revisiong of Markaby (r33), everything was working fine except for one thing: select_tag(''province_id'', options_from_collection_for_select(@provinces, "id", "name")) Now returns this (as you see it is spitting

How to set up real network cards?
I have a hardware here with 9 NICs (8 of them on-board) and I want to set up 8 NICs as real network interfaces, one for each xen domain. The 9th NIC should be Domain-0 which is working well. Currently I have only set up one domain which is running in bridged mode at the moment. I am currently trying to set up a second domain which uses eth2 but I didn''t succeed. I want to get the

5.2 driver for Marvell Yukon 88E8042 PCI-E Fast Ethernet controller
Hello, I'm trying to install CentOS 5.2 on an HP 6730s notebook. All's going well except for one little item -- the networking. Never thought I'd have trouble with an Ethernet adapter, so I didn't even check before buying this machine; it was cheap. The adapter is a Marvell Yukon 88E8042 PCI-E Fast Ethernet controller. I can't find a Linux driver for it except one that

Help: Marvell sk98lin driver missing from Centos 3 PXE initrd.img
I'm new to the lists so sorry about any faux pas I may have made. Also I apologize for the length, but I wanted to be sure I covered most of the details. I'm trying to do a PXE install on an Intel 1435VP2 server machine. The PXE install has worked on all the older machines in the cluster, so I know PXE is working. However, these new Intel server machines only support PXE booting from

Problem with names() in a plot after ordering a data.frame. Syntax or stupidity?
I am a complete newbie in R . Using R 2.2.0 Windows XP This started as a simple exercise to see if I could produce a simple Cleveland style dotchart with a line from the '2' axis to the dot rather than a continuous line as do "dotchart" and "dotchart2". At least I could not find that option. I got a crude program to work but it includes unnecessary steps.

Hello, recently I've installed 7.0 and now I'm observing strange thing with my Internet connection. Access to some sites may be VERY slow or doesn't work at all with different kinds of timeout messages or without messages at all (but other sites works fine). For example, firefox may say "Transferring data from..." message and then "The connection to the server was reset

ggplot2 : commands on one line vs two lines.
I have just started using ggplot2 and I seem to be doing something stupid in writing ggplot2 commands on more than one line. In the example below the commands on one line are working fine, but as soon as I put them on two lines I get an error. Can any one point out what I am doing wrong? It must be something blindingly simple. Thanks Example
