little subplot in corner
I want to draw a little subplot ("overview") into my detailed plot. It should be placed in say the top right corner and have the size of some legend (like legend(x="topright", inset=0.03, ...) #main plot plot(rnorm(100)) #give little density in corner plot(seq(-2,2,length=300),dnorm(seq(-2,2,length=300)),type="l") I don't want something like par(mfrow=c(1,2)) as

subplot strange behavoir
Hello, Below is some example code that should reproduce an error I'm encountering while trying to create a tiff plot with two subplots. If I run just the following bit of code through the R GUI the result is what I'd like to have appear in the saved tiff image: x<-seq(0:20) y<-c(1,1,2,2,3,4,5,4,3,6,7,1,1,2,2,3,4,5,4,3,6) plot(x,y,type="l",las=1,ylim=c(0,12))

Rotate a plot, and subplot
Hi all, Is there a way to rotate a plot, e.g. a histogram, by a certain angle (90/180/270 degress)? I spent hours trying to figure out how this is done, but without success. Also, I'm looking for an equivalent to the S-Plus "subplot" command to insert a kind of "thumbnail" graphic into a bigger one. How is this best done in R? Thanks for your help Pascal

par(ask=T) in termplot()
Hi, I think it would be nice to have par(ask=T) set by default in termplot(), like it is in plot.lm(). Title of page with multiple plots
I want to place four plots on a page, and I would like to have all four plots share a common title. I have tried the following code, but the title is centered over the fourth graph and not centered across all four plots. Does anyone have any suggestions? R 2.1.1 windows xp oldpar<-par(mfcol =c(1,4),ask=TRUE) plot(p,varp) plot(p,SEp) plot(p,CVp) plot(p,ppval) title(paste("P and 95%CI

self-split plot on multiple device
Hello! I would plot more than 10 (this number is always different) graphics on a figure with layout like 'mfrow=c(4,2)'. There is some existing function able to open the right number of device if number of graphics is done or I have to build it myself with some 'IF.....ELSE.....'? Thanks. Help in Overlaying of 2 Plots on the same Device.
I'm trying to overlay a density plot on a previously plotted histogram. However, i need to use the same axis as of the 1st(histogram) plot to plot the second. My second plot is creating its own axis and causing my plot to extend the entire histogram instead of getting a subplot on a portion of the histogram. I tried 'fig' and 'new' parameters with no luck. Thanks in advance.

subplot()
Hi, I'm trying to get a color-gradient triangle out of a large plot. Wonder can subplot() generate a triangle? So far, I'm only getting rectangles. Great appreciation for any reply!! Kexin

multiple plots in same graph window
Hi, I'm trying to make multiple plots in a same graph window in R. The multiple graphs are showing up in the right positions on the window, but I'm having the problem that the graphic window is being refreshed every time a new plot is drawn, so that I end up with only the last graph coming up; the previous ones are all erased If I try to print in a .eps file directly, then I end up

R-plots with 'complex' axis-labelling
Hi there, I want to create plots with some kind of 'complex' axis labelling of the form $\dot{V}$ and integrate those plots into a LaTeX document. What is the best way to go? I've figured out, that the 'plotmath' commands are somewhat limited (at least I wasn't able to get the $\dot{V}$ generated) and that plots with 'plotmath'-axes wouldn't export

Font size R
Hi everyone. I'm using this following code: pdf(file="Fig5.pdf", width = 4.86, height = 6.29, pointsize = 10, family ='Times') par(mfcol = c(3,2), mai = c(0.4,0.8,0,0), omi = c(0.7, 0, 0.7, 0.1)); hist( rnorm(100) ) dev.off() When I open this in any vectorial software (like Illustrator), it says that my font size is 7 instead of 10 that I specified. I have tried

graphing plots of plots
I want to make a graph where each element plotted is itself a graph. I can see how to use par(fig=) and viewport to do that, but they require (i think) me to do my own scaling as they are scaled to the graphics window. any advice on which approach I should take (just bite the bullet and do my own scaling), or is there something else I should try, or any examples I should look at. many thanks

funtion equivalent of jitter to move figures on device
hello all, I'm overlaying numerous scatter plots onto a map (done in PBSmodelling). In this case I'm placing each plot by setting par(fig) to the centroid of map polygons. The location/mapping part is not so important. There are cases of small overlaps for some plots (ie figures) so I'm keen to write or find a function that moves my small scatter plots so they don't overlap. A

Again on overlaying plots (a plot region within a plot region)
Dear R-users, after seeking for help in R-search I did not find any hint on my particular problem. Countless help on "true" overlay, but nothing on this. Please consider the following: par(mfrow = c(2, 1)) T <- seq(0, 20, by = 0.01) ## PLOT 1 plot(T, 30*exp(-0.65*T), type = "l" ) points(T, 30*exp(-0.26 * T), type = "l", lty = "F8") points(T,

Is there an alternative to subplot() of splus
Dear R-gurus, Is there any function in R does the same thing as function subplot()in Splus? I am trying to post a pie chart onto the top right hand corner of existing bar chart. Also, Does anyone know if I can use paste() to paste the graph to another graph? Cheers, Carla Chen

Subplot.
Hello All, I wanted to do many plots (in my case, wanted to get 6 histograms) on the same figure. Is there a method in R that analogous to 'subplot' in MATLAB? Any help will be very much appreciated. thanks, Suman [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

subplot (Hmisc) and radial.plot (plotrix) problem
Folks, I am having problems with a plot I want to create to give an impression of changes in an ordinal scale measure (1-5) at three time points (0, 14 and 21 days). I can produce a radial plot of bare vectors but getting this to appear on the base plot is not possible as it always seems to end up below the plot area and even outside the plot window. It seems I have not understood

multiple graphs
Does anyone have a simple explanation and example on how to add histograms or barcharts to an other graph like in the example at the R-graph gallery: http://addictedtor.free.fr/graphiques/RGraphGallery.php?graph=109 looking at the code I'not undertand very well how to add graphs in arbitrary/clever position with an adequate scale. If somebody have a simplier example with explanations it
