shorter way of coding
Dear R users,
I am using the code below to generate a fitted value of b. I have about 300 different values for for y (y1, y2, ...y300) which means I will have to write the code below 300 times to generate the 300 different fitted values for y. Is there a short way of doing that ?
Many thanks in advance

curve fitted ... how to retreive data
Dear R users,
I have now managed to fit the curve using the thin plate spline as follows:
library(mgcv)
b <- gam(y~s(x1,x2,k=100),data =dat)
vis.gam(b)
What I want now is to get the fitted data for y and copy it so that I use it for further analysis.
Many thanks in advance

converting raster image
Dear R users,
I was wondering how I can convert a raster image (that made R through interpolation) into an ascii or csv format?
this is the last line of my command
p <- interpolate(r, tpsfit)
So p is my raster file which I want to convert into ascii or csv
Many thanks

replacing with NA
Dear R users,
I was wondering how I can replace the values of a vector with the values from in another vector in the same row
For example, how can I replace the value of x below with NA when the value of Z in the same row is NA?
x <-1:20
z<- c(11, 15, 17, 2, 18, 6, 7, NA, 12, 10,21, 25, 27, 12, 28, 16,17, NA, 12, 10)
Many thanks

Help- Fitting a Thin Plate Spline
Hi Everyone,
I'm a pretty useless r-er but have data that SPSS etc doesn't like. I've
managed to do GLMs for my data, but now need to fit a thin plate spline for
my data (arcsine.success~date.num:clutch.size)
If anyone has a bit of spare time and could come up with a bit of code I'd
be very grateful- I just don't get R language!
Thanks
Rach

trying to fit a thin plate spline to a triangular plot
Hi
Has anyone tried to fit a thin plate spine to a triangular plot before? I'm having trouble working out a piece of code to make it possible with three axes. I have done it before with two axes.
I've found a package I prefer that makes triangular plots (plotrix) using the triax.plot() function. An example of some data and the plot follows:
graph.data<-data.frame(a=c(9,6.2,

Selecting derivative order penalty for thin plate spline regression (GAM - mgcv)
Hi,
I am using GAMs (package mgcv) to smooth event rates in a penalized regression setting and I was wondering if/how one can
select the order of the derivative penalty.
For my particular problem the order of the penalty (parameter "m" inside the "s" terms of the formula argument) appears to
have a larger effect on the AIC/deviance of the estimated model than the

GAM with Thin plate splines
Hello, I'm a student at the University of Klagenfurt / Austria and I
need some help !
I have to predict 24 daily load-values.
Therefor I got a dataset with following colums:
24 past daily load-values
6 past daily temperature-values
My goal is to find a model (GAM with thin plate splines) in R.
I found the function "gam" in the R-library "mgcv", but it just fits

thin plate splines
Hi
Does someone knows if there's a function/package that can make thin
plate splines ? I've looked in mgcv and splines but I haven't found
anything.
Thanks

About the statistics for ratio comparison
Hi
I have a table with four columns and 3 rows. I calculated the average for
each columns as average (A), average (B), average (C) and average (D), then
calculate the relative ratio as average (A)/average (B), and average
(C)/average (D). I would like to know how can I calculate the significance
between the two ratios.
Thanks,
Meng

OT: Plate Echo
Oooh Plate Echo was what people had before digital
reverbs! (When they didn't have spring reverb!) - Long
ago... They are quite rare now because only big
studios had them as they took up a lot of room! (and
then they threw them all away)
*jealous*
Do you really have a plate reverb or just a digital
simulation?

What have you tried? If you're not currently studying R with an
instructor (who should be contacted with basic questions like this
instead; see the posting guide at [1]), I can recommend a free book by

Multivariate spline regression and predicted values
Hello,
I am trying to estimate a multivariate regression of Y on X with
regression splines. Y is (nx1), and X is (nxd), with d>1. I assume the
data is generated by some unknown regression function f(X), as in Y =
f(X) + u, where u is some well-behaved regression error. I want to
estimate f(X) via regression splines (tensor product splines). Then, I
want to get the predicted values for some new

SIP Context from domain?
Hi,
Is it possible to pick the context of a call from chan_sip based on the
domain of the To: header of the INVUTE? I've had a quick look throught he code
and can't see anything, I want to use the voicemail virtual hosting with
chan_sip. Can the sip domain be picked out with a global in extensions.conf?
This woud also solve my problem.
If not is there any specifc reason/restriction

Penalised spline regression
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I am looking for advice fitting a linear mixed model where the random components do not seem to fit within the model formulae for lmer. The columns of Z are not stratified and have the notional random formula (z1 | 1) + ... + (zk | 1).
Context
I am fitting a penalised thin plate spline with knots k1 to kn. The basis functions Zk are |x-ki|^3 and the penalty matrix has
