axis label rotation
Hello, I recently switch over from Splus to R and I have not been able to generate right axis labels that face inwards. This is accomplished in Splus with the command srt=270 but this option is not supported in R. In addition the par argument las=0 or 3 does not rotate the right axis labels. The editor of a journal is demanding that the right axis labels face inwards in the figures I recently

not safe to return vector pointer
Hello All, I recently upgraded from R-1.1.1 to R-1.2.2. I have an R function that uses .Call() to return a list from C code. The C code has the form: SEXP function(SEXP var) { SEXP rlist ; PROTECT(rlist = NEW_LIST(3)) ; VECTOR_PTR(rlist)[0] = NEW_INTEGER(1) ; VECTOR_PTR(rlist)[1] = NEW_STRING(1) ; ... UNPROTECT(1) ; return(rlist) ; } When I try to

segmentation fault: formula() with long variable names (PR#3680)
R version: 1.7.1 OS: Red Hat Linux 7.2 In this example, I would expect an error for the overly long variable name. This is always reproducable for me. > formula(paste("y~",paste(rep("x",50000),collapse=""))) Segmentation fault Sincerely, Jerome Asselin -- Jerome Asselin (Jérôme), Statistical Analyst British Columbia Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS St.

[LLVMdev] lld file format as native OS executable format
Shea, Feasible? Sure, anything is feasible. A good idea? Not really. The internal lld file format is an _intermediate_ data structure designed to make creating the final executable straightforward and fast. It isn't designed to be an executable format itself. In fact, the reason why linkers can often be slow is because the intermediate and final object file formats are conflated. davez On

covmat argument in princomp() (PR#3682)
R version: 1.7.1 OS: Red Hat Linux 7.2 When "covmat" is supplied in princomp(), the output value "center" is all NA's, even though the input matrix was indeed centered. I haven't read anything about this in the help file for princomp(). See code below for an example: pc2$center is all NA's. Jerome Asselin x <- rnorm(6) y <- rnorm(6) X <- cbind(x,y)

Meta-analysis mixed model
I have a meta-analysis dataset which I would like to analyze as a mixed model, where the y-variable is a measure of effect size, the random effect is the study from which the effect size was extracted, and the fixed effect is a categorical explanatory variable. The complication is that we often have multiple estimates of effect size from a single study (e.g. the experiment was repeated in

install packages from intranet
Hi, I'm new to R. Apologies if this is a simple query, I've searched the mailing lists and docs but can't find a solution to my problem. I'm trying to make some packages available on our intranet. During development the 'intranet' is a webserver running on localhost. * When I call "install.packages" I get a mesage about not being able to access 'index

Segfault in llc 3.8.0 building GHC
I found a fix! The first hunk of https://reviews.llvm.org/D17533 (lib/CodeGen/TargetFrameLoweringImpl.cpp) on top of 3.8.1 does the trick. Does llvm do patch releases of old versions? [LLVMdev] lld file format as native OS executable format
Hello, Would it be feasible to use the internal lld file format as the native executable format for an OS? Are there performance or space considerations that would make this a poor choice? Cheers, Shea Levy P.S. please CC me on replies, I'm not subscribed.

plot.logistic.fit.fnc
Hello, I can not get the function plot.logistic.fit.fnc() working....it returns "Error: could not find function "plot.logistic.fit.fnc"". Do I need to upload as specific package first? I am trying to check the fit of a mixed logistic model. Also, any advice for checking the assumption of independence in a mixed logistic model? Many thanks in advance, Sarah Foster

Distance between lines
Hello, I'm trying to assess the similarity of two lines that are represented as points (output of differential equation solvers). Is there a function or a package that deals with things like this? Thanks, John. ==================================================== Johannus (John) Janmaat Assistant Professor of Economics Barber School of Arts and Sciences University of British Columbia -

lattice regression coefficients
Dear list I am sorry to have to ask this question, but I have not been able to find a solution to what seems a simple problem. I have created a lattice plot of a number of regression points and lines using a function containing panel.xyplot and panel.lmline. The result is what is expected , but I cannot figure out how to obtain the coefficients of each of the regression lines. Any help

fisher.test() gives wrong confidence interval (PR#4019)
The problem occurs when the sample odds ratio is Inf, such as in the following example. Given the fact that both upper bounds of the two 95% confidence intervals are Inf, I would have expected that the two lower bounds be equal, but they aren't. x <- matrix(c(9,4,0,2),2,2) x # [,1] [,2] #[1,] 9 0 #[2,] 4 2 rbind("two.sided.95CI"=fisher.test(x)$conf.int,

Of course, "R-rpart" and "R-survival4" then also can't be installed because the
