fitting linear mixed model for incomplete block design
Dear R developers and users:
I have the following data, x is the response vaiable, nsample(individual) nested within trt, and subsample nested within nsample, I want to fit trt as fixed effect, and block, nsample(trt) as random effects using lme, is the following coding correct?
dat$vgrp <- getGroups(dat, form = ~ 1|trt/nsample, level = 2)
ge.lme1 <- lme(fixed=x~trt, data=dat,

Help combining cell labelling and multiple mosaic plots
Dear colleagues
I'm using data that looks like .test and .test1 below to draw two mosaic plots with cell labelling (the row percentages from the tables).
When I take out the pop=FALSE commands in the mosaic commands and comment out the two lines labelling the cells, then the plots are laid out exactly as I'd like: side-by-side.
But I do require the cell labelling and the pop=FALSE

Kaplan-Meier function from survfit
Hi All,
Please pardon me if I am missing something obvious here. How do I get
the Kaplan-Meier estimate function that is created by survfit and
plotted by the code.
fit <- survfit(Surv(time, status) , data=aml)
plot(fit)
That is, I need a function that will give me the survival estimate at
a given time: \hat{S}(t).
Thanks in advance.

using edit.data.frame
dum is a simple data frame transferred to Splus using the dump()
command in Splus and the source() in R. All fields are numeric. There
are no missing data. The data frame looks like it is should:
> apply(dum,2,mode)
yrcl sland s02 s234
"numeric" "numeric" "numeric" "numeric"
> apply(dum,2,is.vector)
yrcl sland s02 s234

Mardia's multivariate normality test
Dear all,
I got this error message
> library(dprep)
> mardia(Savg)
Error in cov(data) : 'x' is empty
But with the same data, I got
> library(mvnormtest)
> mshapiro.test(Savg)
Shapiro-Wilk normality test
data: Z
W = 0.9411, p-value = 0.6739
What does the error message "Error in cov(data) : 'x' is empty" mean? Thanks a lot!

samba3-3.0.4-1 / citrix / terminal services
Greetings All.
I am currently experiencing some issues with Samba. Most users are connecting thru any one of five terminal servers. Very recently we started getting complaints that people could not open Excel and now Word files.
This is the error that pops up when trying to open an Excel file:
"Microsoft Excel cannot open or save any more documents because there is not enough available
