Wine 1.2 on Mac Leopard, Civ4 startup error "Failed Initiating Python"
Hi all, I'm hoping that someone has seen this one before. I am trying to get Civ4 working in Wine 1.2 on my Mac and I get so far as the stage where it initializes Python and it fails. I've attached the log at the end of this transmission. It's relatively short as these things go. I can see at least one error: 'import site' failed; use -v for traceback but I have no clue as to

xml mis-read in civ4 bts 3.17 running ffh2 mod
I have Civ4 BTS 3.17 installed and running on Ubuntu 8.10 using Wine 1.1.13. The game seems to be OK but I have been playing the Fall from Heaven 2 mod recently and the data for the Great Library used within the game is corrupted (sages being given ridiculously large espionage bonuses). The xml files on disk are fine and there is no problem when running the same mod on Windows. I am using the

64-bit chess engines and wine 1.2
Hi, an interesting new feature of wine 1.2 is it's 64-bit support. Many Windows chess engines gain about 50-80% speed increase when running at 64-bit. Most provide 32-bit and 64-bit engines. But on my 64-bit Ubuntu 10.04 only an error message appears i.e. with the free Stockfish 1.8. Code: max at ub64:~/Downloads$ uname -a Linux ub64 2.6.32-24-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jul 5 09:20:59 UTC

Civ4 on Ubuntu doesn't work anymore after upgrade
Hi. I upgraded my Ubuntu installation to 10.04 this morning and now I can't make Civ4 work anymore (Beyond the Sword, patched 3.19, with last BUG mod). The application starts OK, but when I click "New Game", it crashes with this console message : wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x18868000 at address 0x7c3428fa (thread 0009), starting debugger... Still problems with Civ4/BTS
Hi. After upgrading my Debian (installed a brand new Wheezy 64bits a few months ago), I decided to reinstall Civ4, and its amazing sequel BTS. Both applications finally installed (I had a problem with .net...), but now something is teribly wrong : Civ4 starts and plays just fine, but BTS, after starting, crashes when I clic "Play". The error message is the following : Unhandled

Keyboard focus in 'some' wine apps (games)
Hi, I've noticed, now that I'm using twinview, that when I click any other window outside of the Wine desktop (Civ4 or WCIII normally), I can click back to the Wine desktop but can no longer use any of the keyboard shortcuts. Things work fine before actually clicking outside the wine window (for example, on my Pidgin chat window). This happens whether the app is run in windowed mode or

Using Wine across distros with symlink
I have set up the configurations and profiles for some of my programs so that I can use them across distros, and easily configure new installations with all my old settings. For instance, if I use Firefox in Fedora, add some bookmarks, then go to suse or Mandriva the new bookmarks are there, as is history, etc. Same for Thunderbird. To do this I copy the relevant folder from /home/user to my

Using filegroup for access control within a share
Hi, I have an issue with using a UNIX filegroup for access control within a share. The situation is like this: Given a share "test" which exports "/test" to a NIS netgroup "foo", I want to limit access to the directory "/test/restricted" to a specific filegroup "bar". All members of the filegroup "bar" are also members of the netgroup

Wine on Linux only?
Hi there, I am new to wine and Linux, so please excuse me? Ok, I have loaded Civ4. the files are on and Wine recognises them. When I try run the programme through Wine, it boots but I get an error message that CD-rom not present or it can't be read. On searching forums, it gives me fixes whereby I need to load an updated DLL file into the registry? And patch (which I have), and a CD crack?

Re: Civilization IV (Direct2Drive)
I could install Civ4 D2D, but I also can't find a way to get past the pop-up window of html/javascript code. I installed all the libraries that I thought might help. I tried copying the Trymedia folder, though there didn't seem to be any directory in my wineprefix that corresponded directly to Documents and Settings/All Users. I tried making it, I tried the Public user directory that I

shift, alt, or ctlr + mouse click not working in 0.9.59?
Since the latest wine, I noticed that pressing down shift or alt or ctlr and clicking the mouse doesn't have the intended effect. In games like civ4, shift or alt clicking is used for city queues and selecting multiple units, nether of which work, and in warcraft3, pressing alt will show the health bars of units, but this goes away as soon as the mouse is clicked.

I am registering to a sip provider in my sip.conf as below [general] register=>user:password:authuser at serviceprovider/extension Later down in my sip.conf I have the definition for that service provider as follows [serviceprovider] type=peer host=x.x.x.x port=yyyy outboundproxy=t.t.t.t . . .
