Using dlls for Windows provided in http://libvirt.org/sources/win32_experimental/Libvirt-0.8.7-2.exe
Hello libvirt-users, could anybody tell me, whether we could use dlls provided in the experimental package for windows, and distribute it with our application. We would do the following: a) Install the executable from http://libvirt.org/sources/win32_experimental/Libvirt-0.8.7-2.exe on our production machine. b) Add the dlls to the setup of our

Release of libvirt-0.8.2
Following Dan advice, I decided to not wait for more patches and push the current git head as the release. Let's plan to have another release by this month end with the QEmu debugging and hacking APIs. The release is available as usual at ftp://libvirt.org/libvirt Quite a lot of bug fixes during the two months since 0.8.1, and a few new feature. It also tagged more commits as being

Anyone interested in forming a libvirt "docs" team?
Hi all, There's a lot of documentation for libvirt that needs improving, so wondering if anyone would be interested in forming a libvirt "docs" team to help make that happen? While some of the documentation needs people familiar with specific pieces of libvirt, there's also a lot that doesn't, and just needs people with some free time and willingness to help. Anyone up for

"connect at power-on" NIC feature equivalent to that found in ESX
With ESX and the vSphere Client, I can enable or disable a VM's NIC to "connect at power-on". This is very useful when cloning, since you can leave the NIC not connected, power-up the VM, connect to it's console, and modify ifcfg-eth0 etc, before bringing the VM online. Is there a virsh equivalent way of doing this. Thanks....Lyle

Java client error on Windows 7 64 bit for Libvirt on KVM
Hi, I need some help in building a Java client on Windows 7 64 bit plaftorm to manage a KVM using the libvirt APIs. Using the instructions at http://libvirt.org/java.html, i was able to build libvirt.jar. My understanding is that libvirt.jar uses JNA to call libvirt's native windows library. I tried using the libvirt dlls in the experimental Windows installation package mentioned in

OSX: trying to use libvirt 1.1.0 with VirtualBox 4.2
I see that libvirt 1.1.0 should now support virtualbox 4.2, but I'm having problems getting it to work in OSX. I have built it using homebrew, which now has 1.1.0 in its formulae. The error I get when tying to connect is shown below. Any suggestions for where I should look next? The error about "Failed to find user record for uid 'NNNNN'" is odd. libvirtd *is* started

Guest interface info under ESX driver
Hi, Is there a way to fetch the current IP address of a running guest domain (with VMware Tools installed) running on an ESX host? Ideally this would be doable via the libvirt Python bindings. Thank you. -- sengork

Physical-to-Virtual (VMware) & SELinux
Hello guys, I have a couple of servers that I'm about to virtualize to our VMware Vsphere ecosystem. For Linux servers I read that one needs to use the stand-alone converter (which is a live-cd that you boot from it and then you point it to your destination ESX). I would like to know from folks that have already done so...what was your experience like? Did everything went smooth? Any

OT: Caching synchronous writes
[ Wish there was a generic, active Linux "storage" mailing list out there -- something other than the kernel lists I mean ] To frame the discussion, we use VMware ESX (vSphere) quite a bit with NFS datastores. Often times with NetApp, but lately, more often with Solaris 10 + ZFS + SSD's for ZIL (intent log or write cache). The ZIL lets us use synchronous writes (safer) without
