"Untrusted application launcher (desktop launchers)"
I am having this problem on Ubuntu 18.04 -- I manage a batch of desktop machines with some convience desktop launchers, which gnome3 insists are "untrusted". With some general websearching reveals that this is a *GNome3* so-called "security" issue (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/commit/1630f5348). I found a thread on the CentOS Forums (I don't have an account

Centos 7.5 - Gnome3 - KVM - Keypad numeric failure
Everyone, I have a problem with the numeric keypad while using a Centos 7.5 new installation with kvm. When I login to the host machine using gnome3 or classic gnome the numeric keypad does not function. If I activate another 7.5 guest machine with gnome3 the numeric keypad on the guest does not work either. If I login on the host machine using kde as the desktop the keypad works fine and

Design changes are done in Fedora

Me, I?ll take GNOME 3 and all its warts over CDE any day of the week. CDE never would have *evolved* to be the equal of GNOME; it had to be destroyed to make room. But it doesn't matter how pretty Gnome3 is on some other box.

Freenx/x2go on CentOS7?
Can anyone comment on the best remote GUI approach for C7 yet? X2goserver is in epel but when I tried it on the RHEL beta it only worked with a KDE desktop due to the 3d requirement of Gnome3. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

Gnome-3 - can't drag menu items out
I've mostly been using MATE from epel when I use GUI access on CentOS7 because it works with x2go, but just noticed on a system with Gnome3 that I can't drag items out of the menus to the desktop or top bar for easier access. Is there some way to make the desktop space useful for more than pretty wallpaper? -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

CentOS7/Mate Qt bugs/features?
We have recently migrated from CentOS6/Gnome to CentOS7/Mate - and have noticed 'glitches' with some Qt applications that appears to be linked to the 'org.mate.Marco.general' 'compositing-manager' setting - and wondered how we 'fix' the issue ... Below is a PyQT4 python script that shows the issues: 1. With 'compositing-manager' set to 'true' (I

CentOS 7 and xfce
I finally have got around to installing centos 7 and usually do a pretty minimal installation, I chose the virtualization host, since that will be the primary purpose. However I have hit a snag, I usually install xfce from epel and go along my way but there appears to be a bug in the xfce package: Error: Package: xfdesktop-4.10.2-2.el7.x86_64 (epel) Requires: desktop-backgrounds-basic

virt-p2v migration seemingly hangs, no data transmitted, no sign of life
Hello List; I am having trouble performing p2v migration using the p2v iso. I built it using virt-p2v-image-builder-0.8.1-2.fc14.noarch. It boots, connects to the fedora14 machine that is serving both as the v2v server and the nfs server. I know it is connecting because: a)If I try and connect to another server, like one that does not have virt-p2v-server installed, I get a message saying that

problems with NVS310
I have a Nvidia NVS310 installed in my Linux computer for a few years. It works well with the Nvidia driver, and not so well with the Linux nouveau driver. The Nvidia NVS310 has never worked well with Linux. In the beginning (many years ago) I decided to install Nvidia proprietary drivers, but every kernel upgrade would require an additional effort to have the driver working. That was enough

Just need to vent
I personally love Gnome3 on Fedora. It took me about a week to adjust my mindset though -- I did that over a Xmas break. It did help that I read the release notes first (so I was not surprised at the major change) and went through the tutorial the developers provided. An interesting exercise re-examining and critiquing old workflows and exploring alternatives. It works really well on the
