Khmer Unicode problem on Wine 1.2 and 1.3
I have been trying to get Wine to work correctly with Khmer unicode. I am using theWord (http://theword.gr), which renders Khmer just fine in Windows. However, when I run the program in Wine, everything functions perfectly, except the Khmer font rendering. I have the fonts installed in Wine and the script does display in the font. However, the script is displayed incorrectly, as if the open layout

[slightly off topic] Sweave with markdown
DeaR list, Has anyone tried to mix the Sweave paradigm with the Markdown[*] (and co.) syntax? Would this be hard to implement? My tiny understanding of Sweave is that one can define new drivers for the text part, while some functions that deal with the R code would not require any modification. Here's the reason I'm interested in Mardown for a driver. I've been orbiting

EPSXE under WINE.
Hello. This thread is to help anyone having problems with using EPSXE psx emulator in WINE. EPSXE can work in WINE, only if you install directx in WINE. WINE alone does not have directx installed with it but EPSXE requires directx to function. You would need to install directx using any game which has "Install DirectX" or something similar. The redist packages for directx found online

fitting sine wave
Dear R-helpers ? I have 7 data points that I want to fit a continuous curve to, that should look similar to a sine wave My data points would mark the local minima and maxima respectively. This is what I?ve got so far. And I would keep doing so, but sadly nls() then says that it has reached the maximum number of Iterations? ?

(off-topic)Update sii-3512A serial ata controller - which flash memory?
Hi. I had to update the BIOS of a Silicon Image 3512A Serial ATA controller. I''m not using RAID. When I run the updater program (updflash.exe), it asks me to choose flash memory from a list, something like: AMD Am29F010B (1 Megabit), AMD Am29LV01B (1 Megabit), etc. How can I find out which is flash memory of the controller? Thanks Marcelo

USB-serial adapter for CentOS 7
I've several USB <-> RS-232 dongles around. As well as a few embedded devices. They all "Just Work (tm)" on Redhat, CentOS, Fedora, Debian, Raspian and Kali. Knock on wood - never had a problem using any of them. As the drivers are part of the kernel, I'd expect any distro using a recent kernel to do well. Problem running GIMP under Wine
Hello. I just wanted to post it here to receive feedback. I have downloaded both the GIMP and the GTK+ runtime as installers. They run correctly (I think) on both Windows and Linux, but when running The CIMP under Wine, the program just crashed showing the well known dialog box from Windows. Is this a bug in Wine? Before you post an inane reply, I already have GIMP for Linux (x86 Linux native

Using xdg-open by default under Wine
Hello. Is there a way to make Wine use the xdg-open program by default when opening file types it does not know about? For example, I have XArchive with RAR support, but don't have WinRAR installed on Wine. I want to make Wine use xdg-open, which will call XArchive which in turn will use the `rar' program to operate on the file. Any help on this topic?

Unable to run Watchtower Library 2007 Japanese : font ?
Hello, I was using both version of WTLib 2007 (French and Japanese) under Unbuntu7.10 and Wine 0.9.47 and it worked fine with just an installation of VCRedist and some japanese fonts in windows folder. But recently i moved my system to the new Ubuntu8.04 with the last version of wine : 1.0 RC1. I read that i don't need to install vcredist and font anymore. It's supposed to be a platinum
