Direct rendering disabled on intel i965 (Morrowind&Debian)
Hi, I am running Debian wheezy on my ThinkPad laptop. My architecture is amd64, the graphics card is an Intel i965 and I am using wine 1.3.24 from http://dev.carbon-project.org/debian/wine-unstable My problem is that Morrowind runs really slow, around 5-10 FPS, completely unplayable. I tried setting LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib32/dri but that didn't make a difference. Running it with/without

Amazon AWS EC2, Ubuntu, Wine and a 3D App on remote desktop
I know what you're thinking - why?!? Im not going to go into detail, but in short why not! :D I have an industry app which I wont name yet, but is a relatively standard CAD-like 3D windows application. Im using x2go based on Nomachine/NX libraries for remote X desktop to Ubuntu. My 3D application tests for opengl or directx when it starts. At the moment when run with wine the

Trouble Running Games using Wine on Ubuntu 10.10
I'm having some trouble running the following games on Ubuntu 10.10 using wine: Counter-strike source/Half Life 2 Warcraft 3/Frozen Throne The games run, but very very slowly (unplayable). I managed to get Counter Strike 1.6 to work fine by setting the renderer to be 'Software' under the Video options, but the other games have no such option (that I'm aware of). I'd never

Bad performance in games
Hi! I have managed to get games like Team Fortress 2 and Mirror's Edge to finally run. But only with really bad performance. If I run glxinfo | grep direct in the terminal, I get: Code: direct rendering: No (LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT set) However, if I run sudo glxinfo | grep direct, it outputs this: Code: direct rendering: Yes I'm not sure if that is relevant, but it seems a bit odd.

open gl or direct x?
I used to run windows, and I had some trouble getting a decent version of direct x for some games. Now I'm trying to run them under wine. I heard that it doesn't use direct x, but I'm wondering if it replaces it with open gl. When I try to run said games, I get this error message: err:winediag:X11DRV_WineGL_InitOpenglInfo The Mesa OpenGL driver is using software rendering, most likely

Direct rendering disabled - apparently common on 64bit
I'm running Debian Squeeze on an ASUS UL30VT with a GeForce G210M, using the 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel. Obviously I'm on a 64bit system. I've been trying to get World of Warcraft to run, but I just can't get it to start. I'm using the non-free nvidia driver and I followed the howto at http://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers while installing it. According to glxinfo I do in

Issue with opening NoX thanks to OpenGL. (on a VPS)
So we got an Ubuntu 10.10 VPS, and go there with SSH putty, working with Xming as X server. This is what we did so far, to host a dedicated nox server. Code: apt-get update sudo apt-get install wine sudo apt-get install xorg wget *noxinstall url* unzip noxinstall.zip wine NoxInstall.exe (an installer and we put it in /root/Nox/) Wine wouldn't recognice a CD, so a crack gets installed
