Two GCC warnings flags you should enable ASAP
Josh,
There are two GCC warning flags you should enable for all the
C code ASAP. From the gcc man page:
-Wmissing-prototypes (C only)
Warn if a global function is defined without a previous prototype
declaration. This warning is issued even if the definition itself
provides a prototype. The aim is to detect global functions that
fail to be declared in header files.

Tests fail
Hi all,
Its been a while since I last compiled FLAC from source, but I just
grabbed flac-1.1.3-beta2.tar.gz compiled it and then ran "make check"
which resulted in this:
===================
3 of 7 tests failed
===================
Is this OK?
Cheers,
Erik

Help required
Hi Sadaf,
Out of curiosity, what sorts of things have you tried to fix this?
For example, after playing around with this a bit, if I remove your
"eps" parameter from your `ranges` list, it works.
Perhaps you should try tweaking the values you pick for your
parameters. You don't even have to put it in the `tune` function to
get an idea of the ranges you should use:

speeding up likelihood computation
R Users:
I am trying to estimate a model of fertility behaviour using birth history data with maximum likelihood. My code works but is extremely slow (because of several for loops and my programming inefficiencies); when I use the genetic algorithm to optimize the likelihood function, it takes several days to complete (on a machine with Intel Core 2 processor [2.66GHz] and 2.99 GB RAM). Please help
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am stuck with a nagging problem in using R for SVM regression. My data has 5
dimensions and 400 observations. The independent variables are :
Peb, Ksub, Sub, and Xtt.
The dependent variable is: Rexp.
I tried using the svm.tune function to tune the hyper parameters: gamma, epsilon and C.
I am getting the following error message:
Error in predict.svm(ret, xhold,

For or Against
As a librarian and a father, I have both a professional and

In addition to democracy, libraries and education are related
