Audio Tab in winecfg Crashes
As the title states, when I click on the Audio Tab inside of WineCFG it crashes horribly. I looked for a way to set it up manually through the registry but I didn't see anything so if someone could tell me how to set Wine to use ALSA or the opposite (OSS) I would be much obliged.

Wine only sees OSS, not ALSA
I have two machines, both of which run Debian squeeze and on which I compiled Wine 1.2.3. On the older installation of Debian, which uses an Audigy 2 card, when I do $ winecfg, Audio tab, the OSS, ALSA, NAS and EsoundD drivers are seen, with the ALSA driver automatically checked. The sound test works. On the new installation of Deban, with an Audigy 1 card $ winefcg only shows OSS, and so

The good old winecfg audio tab
Ok, I know this is probably very redundant, but I'm getting the Audio tab crash with winecfg. The error output is: wine: unhandled page fault on write access to *insert hex numbers here* (thread 0009) Modules: Cannot get info on modules while no process is loaded etc. After the last few hours spent surfing dozens of forums and threads, none of the fixes have worked. Ices crashes all of a sudden: EROR input-oss/oss_read Error reading from audio device: Input/output error
It was kind of working for a while but I could not hear the stream but it was running. I started messing with alsamixer and now it crashes. I see the error but I don't know how to fix it. ices-oss-xml: (alsa is the same just a different input module) <?xml version="1.0"?> <ices> <!-- run in background --> <background>0</background>

Audio mishap in Wine 1.0.1
Just installed Wine (after installing the latest Linux Ubuntu) with the help of Gnome desktop's "application-add/remove" thingy. but when the Wine configuration menu shows up, the tab "Audio" failed to get the sound right (despite ubuntu itself having detected and tested OK for sound) Then the config. suggested for me to "select one of the following sound

No sound in Wine
Hello I'm using Debian Squeeze, with my personal compiled Wine-1.3.17. Games run well with this version I think but... I can't seem to get sound working in Wine. Native linux apps like VLC work with sound. Winecfg says "Audio test failed" if I try that. I can only see the OSS driver though I believe I am using ALSA(not sure though). [Image:

Wine Success and Failure report
Hello, (first post) You probably don't want to hear about my Linux-related story, so I'll cut telling you that about 5 months ago I switched from XP to Ubuntu. I've been a C/C++ programmer since I was 13 (2 years go), so I consider myself to understand a great deal of things (but hey, what is my opinion worth nowadays?) Anyway, In this post I'd like to report my Successes and

No sound in wine, no matter if pulseuaio is used or not
Hi there, since my upgrade to Kubuntu 11.10, the sound is not working anymore in wine. By starting "wincfg" audio settings I get: Code: fixme:alsa:AudioClient_GetMixFormat Don't know what to do with 32 channels, pretending there's only 2 channels fixme:alsa:AudioClient_GetMixFormat Don't know what to do with 10000 channels, pretending there's only 2 channels

Help request: Wine + alsa on 64-bit Fedora 12
Hi all, I'm having a problem with alsa on wine. I'm posting this to both lists--I'm sure that there exist people on both ends who might be able to help. Basically this is it: neither alsa nor oss show up in winecfg. The wine-alsa and wine-oss packages are installed. I have a feeling it's due to 32/64-bitness problems. I'm already having to run all wine apps as wine32

Thanks. I was only loading OSS. I installed the alsa development libraries and then loaded alsa instead of oss and everything is working now. Re: Wine and pulse audio
Using ALSA or OSS instead of PulseAudio is not actual at all. Its si much problems using ALSA and OSS with duplex sound thru wine and native linux-apllications. And problems comes when trying to use things like mumble and playing a game with wine. The pulseaudio-patch which was added for Wine versions up to 1.3.28 (not official i think), has been working just perfect. I tried 1.3.34 which

wine-20050419 - where to set audio driver type?
Hi, In a completely clean account that's never run Wine before I run wine --version. Wine installs a new .wine directory but this Wine directory has no config file. I looked in the 3 obvious files but none of them seem to have an option for changing between OSS, Alsa and JAck. where do I make this setting change now? Thanks, Mark

OT Which Audio system to target?
I am starting to work with the speex API under Linux. Simple question what audio system should I target? OSS or Alsa? I looked at portaudio and it targets OSS and it seems to work fine but am I limiting myself? alsa does emulate OSS so it seems the best to target.

One-way audio using console
I've tried making calls using the console (both ALSA and OSS). ALSA seems to work after applying the little fix posted on this list some time ago by someone (which I'll submit into the bug tracker), but all I get is one-way audio: I can hear the other end, but nothing gets transmitted. At first I thought this was an audio problem, but it doesn't seem to be. My machine isn't
