They all use systemd. If you're running CentOS 6 to avoid that,
you're out of luck.

I could not get HandBrake to work under CentOS 8, so I installed it
under
Zorin 15 (an Ubuntu-derived German distro). There, it works great. I
did not try
any of the other distros derived from Debian or Ubuntu itself.

imap corrupted indexes
I've searched the archives and find a lot of references to corrupted indexes
but can't seem to find any solutions. It seems like folks either have the
problem or they don't.
We recently migrated from a RedHat Linux server to an OpenBSD 3.7 server (both
using dovecot). Imap was working flawlessly on the RedHat box but now gives
numerous index errors. I then upgraded to

Language Software Crash
Can someone help me please. I am a new Linux user. I am running Zorin Linux on my computer. I am trying to use a Language Learning program called Teach Me Irish; a windows based software. I used Wine 1.2.2(?) to install the software on my computer. It appeared to have installed fine, and I activated the software. However, when I try to use the software, it will initially load, but when I click on

Where does R store workspace and commands that load on startup
When I close R and answer yes to save workspace, R automatically loads it and apparently also the command history at start up. I would like to know where R stores this information. I know that I can save .RData and .Rhistory files, but I would like to know how(where) R stores this information automatically. I have not found any .RData or .Rhistory files associated with start up.
I am running

Time moving backwards error
I'm running dovecot on an OpenBSD 3.7 server and after upgrading to
RC25, the daemon started exiting with:
Fatal: Time just moved backwards (1173221579 -> 1173221578)! This
might cause a lot of problems, so I'll just kill myself now.
After upgrading to RC26, I've gotten the error:
Error: Time just moved backwards by 1 seconds. I'll sleep now until

Ruby for Rails chapter 4 up now
If you buy the MEAP (Manning''s version of Beta Books), you
can now get the first four chapters of David Black book (that''s
nearly 25%!). So far, I''ve been really pleased with it. I just
grabbed chapter four, and I''ll be reading it soon. Get more
information (or buy a copy) at: http://manning.com/books/black

Just stuck
I have read everything I can understand as a first time Linux user, but
have not been able to set up my Zorin Samba file server (4.1. ) I have
days invested and have learned much about this non-MS OS, which is part
of the objective, but am not progressing to a solution.
The objective is to have a Samba standalone (home) server on WORKGROUP
with windows clients (Macs later).

SGI XFS 1.0.2a, ACLs and samba 2.2.3a with win2k perms
Hi,
I haven't been able to find any doco that explicity states whether it is
supported, so I am hoping someone out there can answer the following
questions:
Is it possible for a folder/file in a samba share to have win2k security
permissions assigned to it? For example, I want my samba server to
participate in an existing Win2k domain. I want users to be able to set

Rails Deployment: Book recommendation?
Hello,
I''m seeking a book on rails deployment (I think a general deployment
on nix book can helps too)
I need in depth information about Apache, FastCGI, (LightTPD maybe).
I was thinking always I know what a web server is! but when I think
more deeply about it (after reading Capistrano doc) it seems I need
more info about app, web and db servers. stuff like how to config the
app server
