steam games are missing
I've installed steam and it runs (extremely slow though), but when I log in and open the my games tab none of my games are shown. I know the games are still registered to my account though because when i use my old windows computer they are still all there. Also when I tried to repurchase one of my games I was told that the software i wanted to purchase wasn't available in my location yet

Steam Games Don't Work. Please Help!
I bought a new computer for myself, and installed Kubuntu on it. I installed Steam on it, bought the orange box, tried to run TF2, and it didn't work. When I started it up, t showed the VALVE logo and played their little jingle, showed the Source logo, then the screen went blank and nothing happened :x . It opened it in the Konsole (Terminal) and it gave me this when the screen (on the desktop

Can't install games in Steam, it crashes.
When I try to install a game (purchased on Windows) in Steam by selecting the title and clicking "Install", it doesn't do anything for a couple of seconds and then crashes. Here's a log from a console: http://codepad.org/n89JWRFb I'm on Kubuntu 10.04, Wine 1.2-rc1.

Maybe OT - problems with Steam
Hi! We have problems with running games, regularly purchased from Valve, under Steam running on wine (a lot of versions tested, now we are on a current git tree). We are unsure, whether this can be a wine problem, and we don't have any possibility to test it with real windoze. I would like to ask, whether the symptoms described below are known and what to fix to make the games usable.

New game on Steam: Braid
Just so you guys know, there's a new game available on Steam that I would hope to see some development for Wine, which is this awesome puzzle game called Braid. http://braid-game.com/ It's a 2D side scroller, but it's so much more. I've played the demo on my brother's X-Box 360, but never could convince him that it was worth it to download. SO I was hoping I could stir up some

Unhandled exception launching games from Steam
So after years of running a 'pure' Linux machine, I finally decided to install Wine so I could play some of my old games - and it's been a disaster. Using either Wine 1.5.3 or 1.3.3 trying to launch Half-Life Source results in nothing happening, trying to launch from the commandline gives this stack trace: Code: wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address

Certain Steam games won't launch
I did some moderate searching and didn't see my problem, so I'll post it here, as I believe it's a Wine problem (although it's very possible it's not, Ubuntu is an interesting beast XD). About... oh, I'd say 3 weeks ago, I tried to open Garry's Mod and it said "launching", and the launching window closed as normal, but then nothing happened after that. This

Duke Nukem Forever Demo (Steam) not launching
Got someone this demo working? 50,- EUR is a lot money to me so I like to play the demo first. But it seems to be impossible? I have latest Wine from GIT and did the required winetricks steps (dinput8, xinput, removed asterisk from dinput8 user.reg line, added xinput1_3 (with native only) to winecfg, corefonts, tahoma installed; all done in a new wine bottle aka. WINEPREFIX). A +d3d logfile

[Ubuntu 11.10] Unable to run (java?) games
Hello everyone Wine is great. I've managed to (through PlayOnLinux) get Steam installed and I'm able to play a load of my games in the comfort of Ubuntu. Currently I have all my Half Life and Half Life 2 mods working for the most part. My issue is: Some games come with a browser or launcher that checks if the game is up to date. All of these launchers tend to contain some Java, Flash

Problem running any games with Steam
When ever I try to run FEAR 2 or Half-Life in Steam the "Preparing to launch" window comes up and then disappears. I assume every game I have will do this same thing, but it takes way to long to install anything in Steam. Both games produce the following output in the terminal: Code: err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {9a5ea990-3034-4d6f-9128-01f3c61022bc} not registered

State of Steam Games
What is the current status of Steam games in Wine? Some people claim same or better performance than Windows and other say its much worse. At least with TF2, the game goes from great performance with decent settings in Windows, to barely playable with all settings on low in Wine. Can Steam games run well in Wine without having a machine so powerful it can overcome any software problems? Is there a

Connection problems with Steam games
Hello, I've been having problems trying to run Steam games. The Steam itself takes up a lot of resources even when idle, for some reason, but the games run rather smoothly - in menu that is. Most of the games I have on steam are multiplayer games, and as the topic title suggests, I can't ever get to play them due to problems on connection. When playing Men of War, the game freezes on

The Big List of Steam Games on GNU/Linux, the wiki!
Hello everyone! I've spent the last couple of months working on a wiki that contains what the thread title says: a list of Steam games that are either native to GNU/Linux or are runnable in Wine, categorized by their AppDB rankings. A bunch of people at the Steam forums have been working on it, but it looks like a lot of people here use Steam to get their games, so it seemed to make sense to

No sound using OSS in Steam games
Whenever I change the sound driver from ALSA to OSS in winecfg all of my steam games are muted. Some of the games doesn't even start, some of them start but are totally silent with OSS. I installed a couple of non-steam games into the same wineprefix, interestingly they can use both sound systems. So this issue is applied only to steam games. If I apply the WINEDEBUG=+dsound parameter when
