muncher.txt (0/1)
Ok, It's a lame name but it was the best I could come up with after spinning around in a desk chair for a few minutes. Here is the generalidea behind it. Once, in an interview, Steve Balmber, the CEO of Microsoft threw some standard MS FUD out about Linux being a poor choice becaue each distro tends to "mutate" linux and has no solid direction I thought "Wouldn't it

Hi, I'm not sure this is a bug in the code, the comment or my thinking. So first try goes to r-devel... I find the following comment in X11_Open () (src/unix/X11/devX11.c): /* if we have to bail out with "error", then must free(dd) and free(xd) */ A couple lines down, there is: if (!strncmp(dsp, "png::", 5)) { FILE *fp; #ifndef HAVE_PNG error("No png support

Project Cascade?
Hi all. I was wondering if anyone has heard of the new Sun product called Project Cascade? You can find more information about it at a link directly off the main sun.com page. I'm curious as to whether or not it will be as good as samba, and if people are going to think that an equivilent hasn't been around for quite some time... Dave

Wine distro with MS WOS look and feel
i think that if a distribution with MS WOS XP and 7 look and feel based on Gnome and Ubuntu or debian is released a lot of people would migrate. People is comdortable with what they know, even Gnome is easy to use, they like Control panel, Documents and Settings and Start vuttons from MS WOS. If program Icons should be in desktops, an start button with a control panel, My documents and so one,

NoobyQ: how to work with a table of static lookup data??
Hello out there! Nooby question: What''s the "Rails" way to work with tables of relatively static lookup data? Objectively (I''m thinking); I don''t want to hit the DB each time, so for each lookup table, initialize a globally available hash with lable/value pairs... Am I on the right track? How would you do this kind of thing in Rails? Thanks! --

samba-upgradedns --dns-backend=BIND9_DLZ fix hard links / A Record / PTR Record left
Hi, i have the following problem. I use the remote administration tools. I added a forward lookupzone A Record and would automtically add the suitable PTR Record. A Record was added but i miss the PTR Record. I have a foreward and reverse lookup zone. I use 4.1.6 and use now 4.1.11. Before it worked. I read at the wiki out that the sam.ldb.d and dns/sam.ldb.d are hard links. I checked that

early media (video)
Hi All, I've been looking for information on how to use asterisk and early media to allow for a video-preview of the caller at the callee's phone for days... but I haven't been too successful :( I found that there seems to be a company "2N Helios IP" which claims (youtube-video) that "their" SIP server is able to provide early video (using a Grandstream 3157v2

OT - Detect selected text with JavaScript
Hello, Does anyone know if it is possible for JavaScript to detect what text is currently selected by a user? I would like to allow the user to select some text and then grab that text using JS. I saw these guys do it : http://www.enlighter.com/ but I''m not sure if its possible to do this using JS only or if it needs a browser extension. Thanks! --Dave.

Sangoma A200D problem
Hi all, I've been having problems with my A20002D lately - callers from the PSTN don't hear me when I answer, but I hear them. Disabling echo cancellation in zapata.conf brings the audio (and echo) back. This used to work fine, until two days ago. The only weird thing in the logs is this: May 12 07:42:53 steerpike wan_ecd: wp1ec: The H100 slave has lost its framing on the bus! May

unexpected behaviour with ddply and colwise
Hi, I am confused by results from: > ddply(aa, names(aa), colwise(sum)) I thought ddply was just calling colwise(sum)() with each column. However ddply() returns a 13 x 5 result !! The general result I expected is similar to that of apply() , or using colwise(sum)() alone. Shouldn't ddply() produce the same ? Thanks in advance for your help, - Stuart Andrews >
