CentOS 6.6 - net-snmp process - Too many open files
Hi gents, I have a CentOS 6.6 install with net-snmp running. I'm using SNMPv3 Auth and Encryption with Observium polling devices every five minutes. On one of my Centos server, the net-snmp process will die after 24-36 hours of running. It seems to be hitting my system maximum file open limit which is set to 1024. > [root at mail net-snmp-5.7]# ulimit -n > 1024 That number will

Issues with SNMP

I am monitoring the interface traffic. Please keep in mind the firewall/router I do the same thing without any issues for 4 interfaces and it is still at 4.4 and doesn't have any issues. If I

SNMP issues since 5.6 upgrade
Hi there... I scanned the archives and did some Google'ing ... can find some references to these errors but didn't find a solution. This started when upgrading some servers from 5.5 to 5.6 release. It's net-snmp creating a lot of errors in the /var/log/messages suddenly. I do believe this is only happening on 64 bit installations but not 100% sure yet... [root at mail1

Module interaction and dependencies in Puppet (SNMP in particular)
Hello folks, I''m sitting here converting my static, simple classes/snmp.pp into a full module, and I''ve run into a bit of a brick wall. net-snmp is one of those wonderful programs that will only read two configuration files (it reads a few more, but only 2 are in /etc) - /etc/snmpd.conf and /etc/snmpd.local.conf. This means that my SNMP module is somehow going to have to

occassional problem wtih upslog and apc ups units via snmp ... [NA] status

I haven't tried it, but if snmp-ups polls every 30 seconds, and MAXAGE is 15, then with a random polling interval, 50% of the time the data would be more than 15 seconds old. In

SNMP and OID/MIB/MRTG
Hi all. I am having an issue and quite frankly would rather not spend the entire next two days learning the entire snmp program. I am hoping someone out there has used MRTG and SNMP to make it work. I have both installed. Single server, polling itself. Question 1- does snmpd have to run as a daemon, or only run once so I can get OID and MIBs from it? Question 2- does anyone know the command

SNMP monitoring
Hi All, I've been reading up on 1.4 snmp integration. When I try and compile asterisk with a -with-netsnmp option it complains about net-snmp installation being broken. However, the net-snmp-devel rpm is installed, and snmpd on the machine runs fine. Anyone have a guide for the pre-requisites needed ?
