Iptables configuration to handle brute, force registrations?
fail2ban might be good for this. Ideas for stopping ssh brute force attacks
just wanted to get some feedback from the community. Over the last few days I have noticed my web server and email box have attempted to ssh'd to using weird names like admin,appuser,nobody,etc.... None of these are valid users. I know that I can block sshd all together with iptables but that will not work for us. I did a little research on google and found programs like sshguard and

OpenVPN + SIP configuration?
Hello I read a whole book on OpenVPN, but still can't figure how to configure the server + client so that the the client connects and sends SIP/RTP data through the tunnel. To get started, I'd rather use a shared key instead of X509 (certificates + keys). The server is running on a uClinux appliance, with /dev/net/tun, and OpenVPN is 2.0.9. The clients will be Windows hosts connecting

Callback through extensions.conf?
Hello I'd like to configure Asterisk so that... 1. I ring it from my cellphone with CID number displayed, just to notify Asterisk that I wish to make a call 2. Asterisk waits until I hang up, calls me back, and prompts me for the number I wish to call 3. Asterisk puts me on hold through Flash(), which is apparently the equivalent of hitting the R key on European handsets 4. Asterisk calls the

Asterisk SIP attacks and sshguard
Hello, We had been seeing SIP-guessing attacks on our Asterisk server here. While it wasn't that hard to write a once-a-minute cron job to spank the lusers, that runs once a minute and creates little spikes in the usage and I/O graphs, and is slower to respond than I'd really prefer. I felt that it'd be much cooler to get something more comprehensive put together. We don't use

igraph function "graph.bfs" unavailable
Hi, I've installed the igraph package and have been otherwise using it successfully, but when I try to use graph.bfs I get the error: could not find function "graph.bfs" Moreover, I don't seem to have the documentation installed either. (per ?graph.bfs and ??graph.bfs). I'm using RStudio v0.95.262 on windows 7. Below is the info for my R build: R version 2.14.0

Force User
Here is what I am trying to accomplish: I want to create a share that will force users to a ID and group, allow certain users write privileges to certain directories only and others read only. I have set this up and every time I create a file the owner is set to root and the group is correct. Any help would be great, the following is what I have in the smb.conf file: [migrate] path =

Good suggestion for sshguard. pjwelsh https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Sshguard http://www.funtoo.org/Package:Sshguard There you go, I give permission to cross license & plagiarize my *ntoo content to centos's wiki. it should be very similar to a cent box except for yum install sshguard && chkconfig sshguard (or however that ones done) && service sshguard start -sixsixsix

Re: IPTables Blocking Brute Forcers
Another good one is http://denyhosts.sourceforge.net/ It runs as a daemon, and can either ban IP's addresses all together, or just ban certain services. -----Original Message----- From: centos-bounces at centos.org [mailto:centos-bounces at centos.org] On Behalf Of Brian Marshall Sent: Thursday, November 16, 2006 9:33 AM To: CentOS mailing list Subject: Re: [CentOS] Re: IPTables

Just to add another alternative while we're discussing the subject, I've got a soft spot for CSF as a replacement for fail2ban, and it has a lot of additional features as well. https://www.configserver.com/cp/csf.html P. [PATCH v2] btrfs: Fix logical to physical block address mapping
The current btrfs support did not handled multiple stripes stored in chunk items, hence skipping the physical addresses that were needed to do the mapping. Besides, the chunk tree may contain DEV_ITEM keys which store information on all of the underlying block devices, so we must skip them instead of finishing lookup. The bug was reproduced with btrfs-progs v4.2.2. Cc: Gene Cumm <gene.cumm
