Incoming calls through SS7 for data modem transmissions - possible??
Hello, We are working on implementing a solution for a medium service provider. They were previously using a Cisco AS5300 gateway with some PRI trunks to receive modem calls, then route them out the Internet. The Telco they were buying the trunks to discovered this configuration and restricted them due to legal conventions, and stated that in order to continue doing this, they would have to talk

OT - Number Portability
Sorry for the off-topic, but perhaps this will be of interest to other asterisk based ITSPs. We are starting service in a rural area where the ILEC has the rural "monopoly". From what we have read in the FCC docs this does NOT exempt them from number portability, but what does it take for us to qualify to receive their numbers? To date we simply have a few voice trunks to them,

SIP-T Support (I got my head in an SS7 cloud)
Hey All, I'm just daydreaming here.. but what's the status of SIP-T in Asterisk? I haven't been able to find a whole lot of info on SIP-T but seems like just an extension of SIP. Right? Now if I had a PSTN Gateway (that is a SS7 gateway) that supported SIP-T, could I signal * with SIP-T from it and have asterisk utilize MGCP to sieze a particular DS0 on a remote DS1? Hmm.. What am

chan_ss7 with ringing, but no voice stream.
hello, all of users: sorry, resend it again for clarifying the message. I have implemented cha_ss7 in china. initially, the chan_ss7 can not support the call group. i modify the code. now the problem is that, both sides can hear the ring, but i can not hear the voice from each other. i think the ss7 does not send the voice steam to the destination. in chan_ss7, i added:

"The number you have called has been disconnected or is no longer in service"
This sort of message is usually preceded by some magic tones that allow direct marketing application to immediately drop a call to a dead phone number. What is the proper terminology for the tones? Where can I find information about how this is implemented? -- Drew Einhorn

Re: [Asterisk-ss7] Asterisk - ss7
I thought everyone should know this. Jorge, After reading your page in the http://voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+SS7 please advise Your U.S. customers that SS7 is not done the same way as in the rest of the world and the requirements are different. The U.S carrier's require 2 redundant links. I know this first hand because we run an SS7 network. CARDOSO Jorge Miguel wrote:

Re: [Asterisk-biz] SS7 and Asterisk solution
When are 'we' going to have this solution Steve? :) You keep talking about it, and we keep asking when it's going to come about. I know myself, SS7 will be a make or break for our continued use of Asterisk. Even if we had some price indications would be good, and/or a timeframe? Don't want to seem pushy, but it's been on the cards for quite some time now. Ben -----Original

Get SS7 Hangup Code as Asterisk variable.
I'm making outbound calls by placing call files in the asterisk outgoing directory. At times, the call would be hung by SS7 without even attempting (due to error in the outgoing number). I get the following on console: -- Attempting call on ss7/9297210213 for s at croom:1 (Retry 1) -- Sent IAM CIC=22 ANI=9134904821 DNI=9297210213 RNI= -- SS7 hangup 'SS7/callserver/22'

AS5400 E1 SS7
Hi, Would just like to inquire if anyone here has a setup of asterisk to send traffic to AS5400 connected to an SS7-PRI.? this is more of a AS54 question, as i've been reading and i always stumble upon PGW2200 as a requirement to handle SS7 signaling on the AS54. Has anyone able to send calls from asterisk to an as 54 with SS7-PRI without PGW2200? TIA Regards, Nhadie --------------

SS7 E1 cards
Hi, I'm looking into support for SS7 and I found an article (http://www.openss7.com/news13022002.html) which says that OpenSS7 supports Linux Support Inc's T400P-SS7 Quad T1 and E400P-SS7 Quad E1 PCI interface cards. It also says that Linux Support Inc is the primary sponsor of Asterisk. However I cannot find these cards on the Asterisk hardware page

SS7
Hi, Does Asterisk support SS7? Google shows an old new post from Feb. 2002 stating that OpenSS7 would help add SS7 support to Asterisk, but presently OpenSS7 seems to be dead and I can't seem to find anything about it at Asterisk or Digium's sites. What happened? -- Regards, Tais M. Hansen ComX

SS7 over Asterisk ?
Hello.. I have a customer who wants to connect 2 PBX's over IP.. The setup should look like this: [PBX] <-- SS7 --> [Asterisk] <-- IAX --> [Asterisk] <-- SS7 --> [PBX] Since there are no SS7 cards , I was thinking at a way of carrying the E1 data as bulk...Can I do that ? How ? Is possible a scenario like this ? I'm thinking of IAX because I don't

SS7 status report 2
Hi, there are still some questions to be answered by OpenSS7.com in order to decide, whether E400P-SS7 is a good choice for the asterisk SS7 support. In the meanwhile I'm also in negotiations with another manufacturer (whose name I currently may not tell due to a NDA) of SS7 hardware, who gets likely persuaded to offer a cheap SS7-PCI-card which would be suitable for asterisk. Re: [Asterisk-biz] SS7 and Asterisk solution
We'd be more than willing to test :) Our PRI provider has been trying to push us over to SS7 for ages. So we'd be very interested in assisting you. FXO Ignore ring
Is there a way to program an FXO device to totally ignore incoming calls? I want to put an FXO on a Fax line so that 911 calls can be sent via that line, but all other activity on the line is between the Fax machine and the phone company. Perhaps munge the ring tone detect if nothing else? Cary

SS7 over an FXO interface
Hello, Is it possible to transfer ss7 signaling over an FXO interface. I need to setup an ss7 test system composed by two Asterisk based IP-PBX systems with anlog interfaces only (FXO and FXS). I want to know if it is possible to connect the two IP-PBX as following: - FXS interface in PBX1 -----------------> connected to -----------------> FXO interface in PBX2 =============>
