FAX Options
Hi, Is FAXing with Asterisk a practical option ? Or is it better just to use a plain fax connected to an FXS and just switch with Asterisk. I specifically wanted to know if there was any experience using just the fax scanner to send faxes and receive them via asterisk and the to e-mail. My idea was to take my old fax connect it to an FXS port and send faxes with the fax machine (using the fax

is it a bug or a feature? re:time zone differences, laptops, and suggestion for a new option
It's much easier than that. The linux box keeps time in GMT, and displays it in the configured time zone. Try this, on the linux box: "touch testfile ls -l testfile TZ=EST5 export TZ ls -l testfile" You will see the displayed time change, because it's being translated from epoch time (that's what I call it, anyway) - seconds since midnight, January 1, 1970. Moving files revisited
I'd like to revisit the topic of moving files from system to system using rsync. I've just updated my patch from its 2.5.0 version to 2.5.1, and I'm curious what people think about getting it integrated into rsync. The patch comes in two parts. The first eliminates a potential hang condition that can happen if the data channel from the receiver to the generator gets clogged up.

what the best ? apt-get? yum or urpmi ?
Hello, I must make a choice concerning the use of a tool used to update rpms: yum, urpmi or apt-get. Personally, I use urpmi every day, without real problems (the dependences, even those of Perl are very well managed), the "hdlist" can be used in several forms , it contains a lot of funtions but, it is not integrated into up2date and does not have a graphic interface that fits Centos3

problem with mssql and Asterisk 1.8.0 beta3
Hi all, I am testing with Asterisk 1.8.0 beta3 using realtime with a mssql server using freetds and unixodbc, which works with 1.6.1.20. With the same config in 1.8 I get an error when trying to start asterisk which says: [Aug 23 15:06:12] WARNING[7180]: loader.c:387 load_dynamic_module: Error loading module 'res_config_odbc.so': /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/res_config_odbc.so: undefined

asterisk 1.8 fax woes
I upgraded from a perfectly working 1.6.2 asterisk installation (including fax via app_fax_digium) to 1.8.0 this evening. All my custom modules (including swift <thanks darren!>) are working fine except for fax. When a caller connects, asterisk switches to the fax context and hangs up the call. i've captured with: core set verbose 10 core set debug 10 fax set debug on sip

important caveat with Rsync on NT and dayligt savings time
Hi, just a small warning about something that has, like we experienced just last weekend, great consequences. We rsync more than 20 Netware servers through a mapping on an NT machine to central Rsync destination servers (also NT). Last weekend our clock changed to Daylight Savings Time. It appears that NT changes the file stamps on NTFS volumes accordingly (Q129574 on their suppor site). This

Covariance bug in R-1.8.0
R-1.8.0 seems to calculate wrong covariances, when the argument of cov() is a matrix or a data frame. The following should produce a matrix of zeroes and NaNs: x <- matrix(c(NA ,NA ,0.9068995 ,NA ,-0.3116229, -0.06011117 ,0.7310134 ,NA ,1.738362 ,0.6276125, 0.6615581 ,NA ,NA ,-2.646011 ,-2.126105, NA ,1.081825 ,NA ,1.253795 ,1.520708,

[v2v PATCH] libosinfo: declare autocleanup funcs with libosinfo < 1.8.0
libosinfo 1.8.0 declares them automatically for all of its classes, so there is no need to declare ours. This requires fixing the definition of the IS_LIBOSINFO_VERSION macro to wrap its body in brackets. While in the process, simplify the workaround for a related bug by removing a now-useless check. --- v2v/libosinfo-c.c | 11 +++++++++-- 1 file changed, 9 insertions(+), 2 deletions(-) diff

Recursive indexing can cause R-1.8.0 (and R-1.7.1) to segment fault (PR#4486)
Recursive indexing can cause R-1.8.0 (and R-1.7.1) to segment fault First of all, many thanks to the R team!! R is really a software for everyday work. Yes, I've found a fault, but I hope it's not just faultfinding ;-) In the NEWS file of R-1.8.0, first printed in R NEWS 1.7.1, there was given a promise: [ 1 ] o Recursive indexing of lists is allowed, so x[[c(4,2)]] is
