indication tones and callwaiting chirp too loud
I am wondering if anyone could help me figure out how to turn down the volume on all the dial tones, indications, etc.. and especially the call-waiting CHIRP! I don't want to change the txgain and rxgain because they are working at levels that I would like. However, when voice conversations and voicemail recordings are at good levels then the dial tones, busy tones, etc are way too loud.

Indications.conf: change volume
Hi, I use Asterisk to create the dial tone (indications.conf), which works quite well. However the generated signal is quite loud at the client side (in comparison to the following speech ). Is there an option to modify the volume? --- Dennis Guse -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Playtones Volume
I've researched my brains out on this, and can't find any answer. Is there a way to adjust the level of the tones generated through the Playtones command? I'm thinking that I may have been approaching this incorrectly by targeting indications.conf since the tones are being called via the Playtones application. My sense is that it's not possible due to the lack of response from

Bad ringback tone on zap channel
Hi, I've noticed that sometimes instead of getting a regular ring tone when calling out on a Zap channel, I get this obnoxious loud noise which forces me to hang up. Is this a problem in the Zaptel driver? I seem to recall that ringback tones are generated by zaptel when dialing out from a SIP phone over a Zap trunk. Thanks.

DAHDI / dial in / overlap digits / timeout
Hi, our Asterisk is connected to an E1 port. So we are using the DAHDI-Driver. Please , how do I tell the driver/Asterisk to wait for overlap digits for in-calls? I found the option "overlapdial=yes" but I did not try yet. Is that "my" option? Is there any option for setting an timeout? Thorsten

Dial with r option doesn't use 'ring' tone as defined in indications.conf
Hi, Just noticed Asterisk is not playing 'ring' tone as defined in indications.conf when Dial command is used with 'r' option. For example: [test] exten => 123,1,PlayTones(ring) exten => 123,n,Wait(5) exten => 123,n,Playback(demo-congrats) exten => 123,n,Hangup() exten => 321,1,Dail(LOCAL/123 at test/n,60,r) When I now dial with a SIP phone - 123 I can hear nice

Asterisk Indications
Hi, Just wondering if someone could better explain how the indications.conf file actually affects Asterisk? I am using a Cisco 7940 from my Asterisk system, and have set in indications.conf "country=au" thinking that this would make the dialtones/call progress sound like the familiar Australian tones? However when I call another extension on my system, it still sounds like

indications & SIP
Apologies if this is an old question; I've searched the list and the wiki but have not been able to find a definitive answer. I have an Aastra 480i phone registered with * 1.2.4; I want to generate UK ringback tones when the handset dials another internal extension. On my Zap channels, I have this in place by editing /etc/zaptel.conf; however I've had no luck with the Sip handset (I have

Touch tone recognition issues
I'm experiencing touch tone recognition issues when calling some outside phone systems. For instance, if I call my Nextel phone, and try to press * to enter my voicemail, Nextel's system does not "hear" the DTMF tone. I've also experienced other outside phone systems for which I am unable to use their touch tone menus. Oddly, this isn't the case with all outside systems.

Alias for country in indications.conf
Hello list, Hope you all doing fine! I've tried to use the 'alias' directive in the indications.conf file but apparently it doesn't work.... It looks like maybe this feature was removed, because old sample for the indications.conf file have example using the alias parameter, but newer samples don't have it anymore.... also I couldn't find any ticket saying this parameter

IAX2 Channel Information
I'm trying to isolate the IP address of inbound calls to my switch over IAX2. Is the proper way to get that information as follows: ${IAXPEER(IP)} If the caller was inbound via SIP, this works: ${SIPCHANINFO(PEERIP)} So I'm looking to return the IP address of the caller via IAX2. Diva Server, chan_capi and tone detection
Hi all, I have a Diva Server V-BRI-2 card, which support, as written in reference guide: Extended tone processing (human talker detection, generation and detection of country-specific tones) I would like to detect human speech and fax tone with asterisk. I think that the diva card transmit a DTMF code when detecting voice, but chan_capi doesn't receive this DTMF code. I verbose it

Problem with fax tone (CNG) from TxFax and busy detect
I'm losing call files in /var/spool/asterisk/outgoing because * isn't able to detect the busy signal. The call file looks like this: Channel: Zap/g2/3036701917 MaxRetries: 1000 RetryTime: 60 WaitTime: 45 Application: TxFAX Data: <filename>.tiff|caller Using the "|caller" parameter, TxFax injects the fax tone (CNG) onto the line. With the CNG tone, asterisk is unable

DTMF issue
Hello folks, We have an issue with several Cisco SPA512G phones connected to an Asterisk platform where several users hear loud, random beeps during calls to external recipients. The noises are akin to button press tones, are very loud and a significant annoyance. I've tried changing the DTMF tones on the phones (512G's running firmware 7.5.5) from In-Band to every other possibility,

No ringback tone generated by Asterisk with OH323 connections
I am using Asterisk (Debian unstable packages) with an OH323 connection to my provider. Everything is working except for the generation of ringback tones when I receive inbound calls from the PSTN. My provider tells me that we're sending call progress indications and that because of this they're expecting us to generate the ringback tone. Does anybody know how to configure this in

No Incoming Ring Tone (Even with "r" option)
Hello, I am using an incoming iax provider to bring calls to my server. When an incoming call comes in, the calling party does not hear a ring tone. I figured that this was no big deal, and that I just needed to enable the "r" flag to dial. This has not fixed the situation though. Just to try to make sure the line was being picked up properly, I tried the following: [inbound] exten
