asterisk-users Digest, Vol 66, Issue 75
Hi Shahnawaz Have you considered how you are going to address location issue for Mobile users calling 911. You should think of SS7 MAP/TCAP to atleast know their Cell ID Regards Sam > Thanks very much everybody who contributed their thoughts. (last call for comments) Proposed changes to Asterisk release and support cycles
I've created a page on wiki.asterisk.org outlining some changes we're proposing to make to the Asterisk release and support cycles. As always, before implementing any changes of this type, we'd like to collect some community feedback on the proposal. The page is here: https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/x/5ggiAQ Feel free to comment here, or on the page itself if you find any errors

Asterisk open source project servers have new names!
In order to more closely align the services that Digium provides to the Asterisk open source community with the Asterisk project itself, we've recently renamed many of the servers that provide these services. Effective immediately: 1) http://bugs.digium.com has moved to https://issues.asterisk.org There are no content or functional changes (except for the new site being SSL/TLS enabled),

Wideband (G722) MeetMe
Hi, I wanted to follow up on this thread about WB support on the MeetMe bridge that is in 1.6.2. Does it only work for G722 or any WB codec ? I am working with another 16k WB codec that I can transcode to 722 and vice versa. I was curious if the 1.6.2 MeetMe bridge can also mix 722 with any other WB codec natively(without downscaling). Thanks, Serhad Doken ------------------> Razza wrote:

Asterisk community services powered by Atlassian tools
Some of you have already noticed we've chosen a number of Atlassian tools to provide services to the Asterisk and Asterisk SCF communities (Confluence, Crowd, Crucible, Fisheye and Bamboo). Of course, we're not alone in this since many other open source projects have chosen these tools as well, but I'd just like to state again how happy we are that Atlassian is willing to license these

HPEC > VPM ?
Hi - I had a client recently move their asterisk system (asterisk 1.4.26, dahdi 2.2.0.1, aex800 w/vpm module) to a "new" location, a building that's nearly 150 years old. I was not personally able to go there, but the person who did the move said the building's demarc room was "scary"-- water leaks, jumbled and frayed wiring, and all sorts of other fun. The echo on

Digium HPEC 9.00.003 released
I have just placed HPEC version 9.00.003 onto the Digium FTP site; this release cures the recently discovered bug where incoming audio was choppy or lost completely under specific circumstances (did not affect all users, but if a user's system had the problem it would have it on all calls). -- Kevin P. Which echo-can for Digium B410P ?
Hi, Which echo-canceler shall I pick for Digium B410P ? Is HPEC relevant ? Reading from its datasheet, it seems related to analog cards. Alternatives to Digium 729
Per my conversation below with digium, are there any legal alternatives to digium's G729? It is out of date, and doesn't support VAD nor silence detection. Digium has stated that they have no plans to update it anytime soon. VAD/Silence is a big deal with major carriers and we are having to fight a battle to get them to make special arrangements to turn off VAD/Silence in their

The High Performance Echo Canceller (HPEC)
I recently read about the following new technologies from Digium. Has anyone tried the new HPEC or knows when it will be available? TDM800P and HPEC The TDM800P is an 8-port analog telephony interface card, so it fills the gap between Digium's 4-port and 24-port cards. Analog phones and POTS lines are going to be with us for some time, and demand for support for them remains high. The

Digium h/w serial numbers
Hello, I'm at a loss for a way to find the serial number of a Digium analog card without physically removing it from the server. The only time I have physical access to this particular installation is during business hours and that's obviously a bad time to be taking a server down. It seems that I need the serial number to get a free copy of HPEC... but unless someone can convince

G.729.1 - any interest?
The G.729.1 "wideband" codec is starting to show a slight bit of traction. There is a possibility that Asterisk could support G.729.1 - would you use it or buy it if it was available? More importantly, does any equipment with which your systems currently exchange traffic support G.729.1? Currently, the number of devices supporting G.729.1 seems to be fairly limited and it
